Try a college town...people there are open to the idea of people making a fresh start, even if you're not a college student or graduate. Check out websites on colleges and find out about the towns and what's available. There are so many opportunities. It's a place to start and meet people and make a new life.

El Paso has cheap real estate, and jobs.
Phoenix is growing immensely.
San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco are very expensive, but work is available if you look.
The common thread among all those places is good weather.

I did the same thing when I was 24 and it was the best thing I ever did. I was born and grew up in a Mid-Atlantic state and moved to California, quitting a decent job and having nothing lined up. But I wanted to see what life was like in another place, and I spent the next few years really learning a lot, having a great time and - most importantly - building a lot of confidence. Plus, what is the worst that can happen? It doesn't work and and you move back home? Now is the time to take risks like this. Later, if you marry or have kids, it is much harder. Good luck to you!

Texas is the best place on the planet.

Just moving for the sake of moving is not good enough.... Remember the old adage: the grass isn't greener on the other side. Having said that if you are ready for a change, go for it. There is always apprehension every time one moves...don't be afraid. I did exactly the same when young and I left the rain forest in Puerto Rico some 30 yrs ago to come to California--I had a very nice US government job at the time and people thought I was crazy for leaving. But my wheels were set in motion and there was no stopping me. I AM GLAD I DID!!! Financially I did very well in California and raised two children... Now retired I am ready to move again...this time to North/East Texas. The key is knowing what one wants and having a plan previously outlined. I have lived in many places from Europe, Caribbean, Colorado and California. I did enjoy everyone of these places at the time. There is a place for everyone....if you like cold winters and nice summers, perhaps Colorado Springs is the place... perhaps California but generally cost of living, traffic and crime are high here.

Travel while you can: young and no children...but whatever you do, stay away from high crime areas and away from losers...do your own research on line. Best of luck and take care.
