We are seriously overcrowded and are 5th on the housing list in our area. We have been told we are being 'considered' for a house nearby which we have shown would be a perfect size and location for our family.
Our MP is chasing them and we have medical grounds. My family is also at breakdown point.
Does this mean we may get the house?

To the two abusive arseholes that commented on my working status - I do have a job - 2 in fact, I work 3 days a week and 3 evenings a week to cover the expenses like rent, council tax, gas electricity. My husband also works full time and has a decent paid job.
We claim no benefits other than family allowance - which everyone gets.
We are in the situation we are in because of house prices in our area - the average 2 bedroom house costs £200k + and we cannot get a mortgage for that amount - with or without 3 jobs.
I am not complaining about our housing - just hopeful that our situation might improve. |

It means that you and other people who qualify for it will be considered.
Some others may turn it down because of location, too far from relatives etc.
If more than one person expresses an interest, then they will look at who has the most points, who has been on the waiting list the longest,
who's need is greatest.
To be considered is good news though. Even if this one falls through, an offer on another will shortly follow.
Sometimes it is worth taking the one that they offer because they can put you to the back of the list if they think you are too fussy. After a year you can ask for a transfer and by then, you will have an established rent/good social record with them.

"...being considered" definitely means you may get the house! (Pray real hard. ;) )...It will probably mostly depend on "suitability" for your family vs. the other 4 families ahead of you on the list.

Why should you have to depend on the council to re-house you?
Why start a family (and i presume add to it) if you do not have sufficient space to house the additional family members.
I just don't understand why people get themselves pregnant and start families and then moan if they are living in less than perfect conditions because the council is under enough pressure trying to find everyone homes.
Surely you should find a big enough home before having a family?? |
