Do I Have To Let Him In My Home?
I am moving out of my apartment on June 1st but the owner wants to show off the apartment before I leave, do I have to let him? I figure that I paid for the whole month of May and it s still my place so I shouldn't have to let him but he says I do.

If you've given notice that you're moving out, most leases have a clause stating that the landlord has the right to show the unit to potential renters, as long as they give you sufficient notice. Usually it's a 24 hour notice (minimum). I know our leases with our tenants have that clause - helps to protect our investment since we want to be able to keep it rented at all times, since our ability to pay the mortgage can be dependent on that income.

Read your lease agreement. Usually they will put a provision in your lease stating that the landlord is allowed entry within reason and with notice.

State laws allow the landlord to show the property. Some states require notice...some don't. While you have paid May's rent, it is not...nor has it ever been your place....follow your local laws and try not to make waves...especially if you have a security deposit in place.

Yes you must. It is your landlord's property not yours. You are contracting (leasing) the place for a certain term.

estielmo
There is usually a clause that allows this in your lease.

it should be in the lease. it's really not a big deal, why raise a fuss about it?

You cannot deny the owner of the property access to re-rent. They only must show it at reasonable times with proper notice to you.

If your in UK, you do not have to let the landlord or the agent into the property. They can ask to enter and give 24hrs notice, but if you refuse then they can not come in, put it in writing.
You are moving on 1June so there is nothing the landlord can do to make things awkward.

You can play hard ball with him. But if you do, he may play hard ball with you. Be as sweet as you can, in the long run you will be way ahead of where you otherwise would be.

It depends on the state that you live in . Most states and rental agreements require that IF you have given notice to vacate .... then you MUST let the landlord have access to show the property to potential tenants as long as he gives you 24 hour notice .....

NOTE: Usually; he can't just show up and say he wants to show the house ... unless you two have agreed and he's returned like 1/2 of your months rent for your consideration .

Usually the lease says if this is allowed. If it is, just be sure to keep your valuables hidden and if possible locked up. They can't come all hours of the day, and they have to make a reasonable effort to reach you beforehand. One of the pitfalls of leasing is having to deal with this the last month or so.

He only has to give you 24 hour notice to come into the apartment.
