Kel | Do I have to pay rent? |
My landlord just gave me 90 days notice to move out. Do I have to pay rent? |
|

cowgrl
|
Of course you do; you will still be occupying the residence for those 90 days and your landlord will be unable to re-rent the property until you move out. It is not ok to leave your landlord high and dry with no income. |
|

acermill
|
Of course you have to pay rent, unless you leave before the 90 day term. You don't get to live there for free because the landlord wants you to move out. |

I guess if your already in bad standing you can say f it, but he may bring a suit against you, and it may affect your credit. |

buffalo ny: yes, and complete any other agreements either in your written or oral or state default rental laws. hire a cleaning company and take photographs if there is a security deposit involved. be sure you understand completely the condition you must return the unit to the landlord and the date and time and location where the keys must be returned. see when your final inspection is to be done. in the meantime there are other obligations such as allowing the landlord time to show your unit for rent and post signs in and around the property. for yourself, secure valuables and declutter the place so it will be easier to pack up. ask if there is a cash reward program with your landlord for referrals. you may be able to get a signing bonus or a referral bonus if you quickly refurbish and prepare your unit for the next tenant and find a good tenant to replace you, unless the owner has other plans for your unit. this is a win-win opportunity for you, search for modern replacement insulated less expensive larger ground floor unit with the all the amenities you desire closer to your workplace or favorite 24 hour supermarket or beach on craigslist.org
shop carefully for high speed internet and satellite tv and cable and phone deals, as you are about to be a welcome new customer to all of them at your new address. |

Of course....Why would you think you could live there for free???? |
|

Wildcat

YES! Why do you think you would not? A tenant must always pay rent through the day you move out. Getting notice does not change any rules or requirements. |
