A lot of landlords will not except housing benefit however housing benefit can be paid straight into your bank or to your landlord, so really there is no need for them to no. Altough housing benefit can be delayed so by telling your landlord and getting it paid straight to them it will stop problems between you occuring. The fact that you have already been renting of them makes me think they will allow you to continue rentining as they will know that you are capable of paying rent and are not some lowlife, which a lot of people on housing benefits get unrightfully stereotyped as. Hope this helped

No, but 99% of our Landlords won't have tenants on Housing Benefit.

Check your rental agreement ~ many landlords will not take on someone who is on Housing Benefits ~ you don't need their permission to apply, but if it's against the agreement, then they would have the right to ask you to move out [if they found out that you were on it]

Maz
No you dont, but I would tell your landlord as the councils usually contact them anyway.

No. Often a tenant's circumstances will change after they've moved into a property. I don't think your landlord will be the least bit bothered as long as you keep paying the rent on time.

No, although it would be best to tell him your applying for it, But you don;t need his permission.

no you don't have to tell him your are applying but you will need a current tenancy agreement to show housing benefit in your application.

Buddy
No you don't

not at all . if you have been living there and find yourself on the other end of no income ,council will assist you . rent allowance usually goes into your bank account ,and you are responsible for paying it to the landlord. so if you have been paying before ,nothing changes . most landlords are not aware that there might have been a change in your circumstances.

Margaret S
You need to let your landlord know because it will affect his or her insurance if the tenant is DSS.

Any allowance you receive will not be paid directly to the landlord (it is no longer Housing Benefit but LHA and goes to the tenant except in extreme circumstance).

"JOHN"
no you dont.

You do not have to have his permission to claim but you should have a word with the letting agent as many - perhaps most - private landlords specify no DHSS.

Unless it's Section 8 which the landlord would have to know because the property would have to be inspected. Other programs are available to low income families for rent rebates and heating assistance. What you get back depends on your income. If your paying your rent on time each month it shouldn't concern your landlord that you apply for this assistance.
