We called our realtor who's our property manager and told her about the new roast infestation that cropped up after only 2 days of living at our place. She said she was going to swing by and bomb the place. I have never lived with cockroaches and these things scare me so bad. Will the bombs take care of the problem? Will it be dangerous for my 3 year old who currently has a chest cold? |

roaches can crawl over your child while sleeping I suggest getting a netting to go over the child's bed until the roaches are controlled. the professionals use a paste, not a spray for roaches. Living in an apartment, the whole building needs to be treated not just your apartment because they will move all over the whole building. You may notice after the bombing that the roaches seem to be gone but they are NOT. once the home is bombed I suggest going to Menard's or Lowe's and getting the roach paste to use around your apartment, either that or move out and pray they are not in your stuff yet!! You can't stay there while this is going on and I wouldn't bomb while your child is sick! But then I'm a self confessed over protective mother! You can wait until the cold is better or move out until the air clears out. I would wash all the dishes and anything that you eat with afterwards! This kind of bomb is designed to seep into the cracks and crevices that means cabinets too! Tell the REALTOR to leave a can for you to read the pre-cautions! If you live in the south they are more common and having a pest control company come in monthly will send them other places! The pest control company may be a better solution for you- they have chemicals that are pet and kid friendly! |

if roaches cropped up after a few days then they were there before you moved in and the place was never treated properly. I have lived in Florida where there is a constant roach problem and I seldom had the problem as I always bombed the place on a regular basis that lasted for 8 months or so. The bombs that you can buy in a store are effective to a small degree, but the best is the commercial product that last longer and kills more than just roaches.. |

if they came out a few days after bombing then that may have been what someone already did before selling the property. Let them bomb it, once it is done just let it sit for over a day, it will be a nasty mess to clean up! Also, make sure all dishes and stuff you use to eat off of are boxed away in a tight container or take them out of the house. Toys that your child will play with and put in their mouth especially box away! You will need to wipe everything down really well when you return! Then I would hire some pest control to come out in a few weeks and then they will tell how often they need to come out eventually they will no longer be a nuisance! |

I suggest you leave the house closed for at least two days, then air it throughly before you go back in.
If you live in an apartment or duplex your solution is only temporary. They will come back from the other side.
Even moving doesn't help. They infest all of your belongings. Inside of appliances, tvs etc. |

Heck NO!!!! Nothing gets rid of them. They are very resilient and have been around for ages already. You would think we'd have found something by now. Nope, they aren't going anywhere and that sucks.
You can get control of them, but you have to take a lot into consideration such as do the neighbors have them as well. Do you keep your house clean (like under and inside cabinets). Moisture is a big part as well. Go to a website and they will explain the nesting grounds for American Roaches and any other type of rodent (insect).
But take care of...NO! They are like the Russian Mafia!!! No offense!!! I just meant how you never hear of them or see them anymore but you know they are there. =)

Roaches are GROSS!!!!!!!! Bombing the house will only work if your direct neighbors bomb at the same time. If you saw some roaches, believe me there are thousands more lurking in the house. See, roaches are hard to kill and they will run to the next house and come back when the coast is clear. Your daughter will be ok, you would just need to leave the house for the day and return later to open windows and then it will be safe for her to come in.
Roaches are very dirty and carry all sorts of diseases.
Oh, by the way....good question but please don't use America and Bombing in the same sentence. |
