No, you claim a renters credit but is like $63bucks in a $1k/mo rent so, $63 is $63 buck, it makes a nice dinner... for one. :0)
If you are paying rent may be u want to look into rent to own, now you are talking big deductions!

I believe if you are doing business you can deduct a % of your rent and utilities. Ck with an accountant.

mia
umm... no... never... assuming you are in the usa, planet earth.

Mike
No, rent is not tax deductible.

Funny Girl
In some states, you can get a credit, if your utilities are not covered in the rent. But, I've never heard of being able to claim your total rent.

tomthepawpaw
There is nothing from rent to claim. Your claim from a mortgage is from the interest you paid on the loan or in the case of new loans the origination or prepaid interest. From renting NO.pp

Not in the USA you don't, at least at the Federal level.

Sorry, neither rent nor mortgage payments are tax-deductible, unless they are for a business and listed as a business expense.

yoda the twentysecond
I doubt you can get a tax refund from paying rent. Why the mean face?
