No college is required. You do have to pass a real estate licensing examination. You can prepare for it by taking a class which is generally a few weeks long. Contact a major real estate agency in your community and they can tell you who is offering the course. I took the course back in the 1980's and easily passed the examination. It's not that difficult if you study. |

This is what I did.I did a search engine online to become a licensed realestate agent in my state.My search engine consisted of this.Realestate courses in Ca,.I then choose a reputable school that was accredited,and took my realestate course online.I worked at my own pace.Once I got the required hours for my state,and passed the schools exam.I printed out my certificate,and was ready to submit it to the state to take my state exam.That was all the easy part.The state exam is the hard part.In most states there are 150 multiple choice questions on the state exam,but they randomly pick those questions out of 1,500 questions or more.So you never know what questions you are going to get.The best bet is to buy a study book or interenet course with nothing,but 1,500 questions or more.Memorize all of those questions the best you can or until you get at least an 80% on all the quizes.Once you do that you should be ready and pass the state exam. |

No, but you will have to pass a test, and in order to pass it, will probably have to take a real estate course or two. Many of the big real estate agencies offer the courses you'd need. |

You have the choice to take real estate pre-licensing classes at an approved school or through an approved college. The state Real Estate Commission makes all decisions regarding pre-licensing requirements. In every state that I have sold real estate (3), there is a requirement to have a high school diploma or equivalent. You can find a link to your states licensing requirements at www.arello.com.
The required classes are Real Estate Law, Practices, and Finance. You may live in a state where Broker Basics and Broker Office Administration is required. Each state has its own state exam and you will take a national exam with it. You must pass both the national and state portions to qualify for a license. You will also submit to a background check and credit check in most states.
This process is not inexpensive! Expect to come out of pocket close to $5,000 before you ever even stick a sign in the ground and then wait 3-6 months before any money starts to roll in. As an independent contractor, you are self-employed and starting a business, so have money in the bank before you start on this venture. Make sure you have realistic expectations and the business sense and experience to make this work. I've seen many real estate brokers come and go who thought they were going to make some fast money. |
