Do you need to be in full time employment for a period of time PRIOR to applying for a mortgage?
I want to apply for a mortgage when I graduate in June with my boyfriend.
He is on around £18,000 and I hope to be on the same.
I was wondering if I can apply as soon as i get my first full time job or will I have to be in the job for around 6months prior to applying in order for the bank to see my income??

We plan to put a £15,000 deposit on the house and get the rest on a mortgage, we seem to be able to borrow around 104k, is there no more with anyone, like 100% mortgages?

Also, how much would it affect my mortgage application if i had a loan outstanding of around 5k? does it affect it greatly or not alot?

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR REPLYS

generally yes you have to be in permanent employment when you apply, but there are exceptions and I believe after reading your question in full you will be ok you may have to try a few different companies though but you should be ok. the loan wont make any difference in fact it will probably help if you have no arrears and all zeros on your credit record.
all zeros mean you have never made alate payment during of time you have had the loan

Try going to this site, they have lots of information about this sort of stuff.

I got a mortgage agreed prior to starting my first job - I just had to prove that I was going to be in full time employment, and had to show a copy of my contract of employment to prove my salary etc. Different lenders will vary, but rest assured, there are definately some out there that will offer you a mortgage.

I doubt a loan of £5K will affect it too much, but it may slightly reduce the amount you are entitled to borrow.

you will have to talk to each individual bank and they will let you know what is available for you...but 6 months is the usual in a full time job

I had to provide my last 6 months pay slips... so yes

having a loan will affect your mortgage application-in two ways:

1. by having a loan (so long as you haven't missed payments) your credit rating will be better-same goes for credit cards

2. they may ask you to present your monthly outgoings & deem your spending to be excessive & unable to afford the mortgage (but unlikely)

If you wanted to most mortgage lenders will offer to add your loan onto the mortgage-which will reduce your monthly outgoings-however you will then have to pay your 5grand loan over 25 years-the interest will be about 5 grand rather than the 700quid you would pay for the original loan

Normally when you apply for a mortgage you will be asked for 3 months pay slips.

At the very least you must be in full time permanent contract for a minimum of 6 months

you know what? people like you make me squirm. You think that money grows on trees. what right do you think you have to a 18k job over me? Just cause you white and got a few gcses you can get anything cant you?
You and your boyfriend are living off the fat of the slave trade. You whites keep the black man down so everything goes to you lot. I really really hope you get your mortgage. And i hope you & yours choke on the debt.
