favteacher | Do you normally need any specific training to be a real estate agent? |
My boyfriend is moving to my town and needs a job fast. He is great at talking to people and good at sales. He dropped out of college though. Could he work for a real estate agency? There are a lot hiring around here. |

every state requires RE agents to be licensed. the coursework can take a few weeks to a few months & then there is an exam. |

I just wanted to add to the other posts...
All states have licensing requirements for real estate agents, however, many agents and offices have unlicensed assistants or transaction coordinators. I would suggest that your boyfriend look into getting a job in that capacity to see if he likes the business and before getting licensed. |

yes classroom and test in Minnesota, but the housing market is stabalizing here, so alot of new agents struggling. 5 years ago would of been a great time to get started in realestate. |

Yes, this is governed at the state level. However, once a person gets through the training, it is a great talker's paradise. One should realize that this is a job that requires hard work if you are to stand out from the crowd, but how is that different from anything else in life?
One suggestion. If real estate agencies cannot be persuaded to hire and pay for the training, your boyfriend could get a job that pays tips--delivering pizza is a job that is easy to get and pays tips, although I realize it is not for everyone--to make ends meet while going through the training. Gratuities are easy for great talkers. |

well at least in pennsylvania you have to take two classes which equals 60 hours to sit for the real estate licence exam. then you have to pass the exam. This process is similar in just about every state |

you must be licensed by the state in order to "do" real estate.
he would have to take a pre-licensing class, pre-licensing test, and then a state licensing test. upon completion/passing, he could go to work for a real estate company. |

he can take a quick course - what he needs is a broker to sponsor him - he wont have trouble finding an office to do it if he is that good at sales |
