I don't like people tromping upstairs or tenant associations. I like to be queen....so only a home will do.

Town condo house. You aren't bothered with next-room neihbor noise; towns are way safer than cities; condos adds way extra security; if the person doesn't live in the same condo as you, or don't know anyone who would let them in, they have no means to show up and bother you; your kids couldn't be any safer AND free(they could be safer, but their freedom would be much more limited); you don't have to waste money on double, triple, quadruple locks, alarms, bars on windows...
People will probably say mansions and palaces, but in those places you're never really safe, no matter how strict you THINK your security is.

I don't mind any of them. As long as I have somewhere to live

Buy a small rental building 2-4 units! you get the best of all worlds...You start your long term retirement plan, the tenants pay most of your mortgage and when you're ready to settle down if you bought "smart" up front you may be able to pull some money from your rental buildings and then purchase your personal "white picket fence" leave it to beaver home- sweet- home!!

With an FHA loan you can get into 2 units with as little as 2.25 to 3% down or less!! But no more Liar Loans... you must qualify for the loan. If you're not used to crowds find something with a house apart from the tenants!!!

good luck!
