tim e | Do you think it's fair that people who pay their mortgage on time are getting zilch help from the gov't? |

Who cares? Take care of yourself. I wouldn't want a handout. |

No it's not fair. My husband and I have never been late on our mortgage. We sacrifice a lot so we're not late. But in reality life isn't fair and I don't know that I would want I government handout. I'd have to pay for it sooner or later. I'd rather struggle than owe any more to the government than I already do. |

I don't have a sense of entitlement. I get a great deal of satisfaction knowing that everything I have, I earned.
I believe in karma, and doing the right thing has been very good to me. |

Yes, absolutely fair, honest. You took on the responsibility, so fulfill it. You will be better off in the end, and so will everyone else.
Those who cannot or will not pay their obligations will end up in deeper trouble, longer-term debt, and will fall by the wayside. Already, of those who obtained "help" -- i.e. renegotiated their mortgages, refi'd, whatever -- over half wound up still losing their homes within 10 months! And the bad news is still coming, and the percentages of "help-ees" ending up in foreclosure anyway is still rising.
Rely on yourself & you will come out of this OK. Rely on the govt and you are going to go under no matter how much "help" you get from the govt. |

Keep in mind, many of the people getting help from both banks and the government have restrictions on their future appreciation. Those that are paying as agreed keep all of their future equity (and the market always bounces back). |

Yes, I think it is very frustrating to be penalized (that's what it is) for being responsible. I think they should cut everyone's interest rate in half. If you have a 4- you get a 2; If you have a 9- you get a 4.5. This would free up money to spend elsewhere and it would also allow those who are trying to stay in their home. The banks still make money- just not as much.
I feel like if you took more house than you could afford, then that's your problem for being greedy. If you got laid off from your job and can't find a job, then yeah.. help them out till they can get back up. There is so many scenarios to consider. |

Reality - any solution that helps this current situation is going to be more "fair" to some than others. I am not, nor do I know anyone who is behind on their mortgages. But to think everyone is going to receive aid (outside of some smallish incentive checks) is not realistic. |

no mortgages are going to be saved now according paulson...they are now going to give it all to thier friends...oopps I mean..uh-hum...bankers. So that the CEOs can still get thier million dollars bonuses for screwing up inthe first place. |

People who pay their loans on time have a greater worry to worry about...keeping their credit record solid and spotless.
One slip up of a late payment and then a whole series of negative repercussions happens. |

i really don't think that's fair. there's a lot of people that have always paid there mortgage on time but if they want to refinance to lower there payment but the bank wont let them which is really unfair. and the gov isnt helping them at all. |

So stop paying it on time and apply to the govt for help. |
