Does a landlord have the right to walk into the home he has let out and ask you to move out without notice?

earmour
Not if you have a contract and pay your rent.

Bite Me
No the landlord does not have the right just to walk in. Depending on the state law he has to give at least a 24 hour notice just to walk in. If he's asked you to move out then that has to be served with the proper paperwork for you to move out. But as far as walking in for anything he has to give you a proper amount of notice before entering onto the premises.

No. He should not enter the house without letting you know in advance.
I'm assuming this tenancy is all legal and above board and that you have a proper agreement on paper? Go to see the Citizens' Advice Bureau (there is one in most areas) and ask their advice.

Mrs G
Only if he has Mad Jimmy, his minder with him... Reality bites your bum here if it is a Private Landlord & not the Council you are renting from... If you feel brave enough to take him on -..make sure you have a Tenancy agreement from him (if you dont your up the creek without a paddle) and make sure he is a registered Landlord. If he chucks you out in the street - phone the police for good measure..mention to them he has forcibally removed you ..with a few kicks and punches.. - and then if you live in the UK - get yourself down to the Local Council Offices - and represent yourself as having been made Homeless & you are also fleeing Violence.

Donna M
Absolutely not, under any circumstances. Even if you hadn't paid the rent for ages he would still need a court order to evict you. Anyone here that says differently does not know what they are talking about.

Two parts sand and one of cement.
Down the toilet with it.
Distribute some fish about the place before you leave.
Some landlords are scum and I've been on the end of this.
Sorry to hear this is happening to you.
Put it behind you and find a better place and a better landlord.

everything depends on the tenancy agreement.(contract). usually they should give a 24 hour notice before coming in, unless is an emergency. and we expect a one month notice to. if you live in the uk call the law society, they will direct you to someone that will help you in these matters, in case your landlord is being unreasonable. call: 02072421222. all the best.

Check your tenancy agreement

kitty
Depends on your tenancy agreement, but i do know on my old one we had to let them in with 24hrs notice. But as for the moving out he should give you about 30 days notice and even then if you don't go he has to go to court to get you evicted and this can take about 2 months. Myself and my family had to do it when our landlord was wanting to sell and we couldn't afford to rent any where else.

gvih2g2
No, unless you have committed some massive breach of the lease such as causing material damage to the property.
Go to the Citizens Advice Bureau.

amyestabrooks@sbcglobal.net
NO they have to give you 30 day notice.

Roxy
He should be legally obliged to let you have 24 hours notice before visiting your premises, although he can request this at any time, to ensure his property is being maintainted correctly. You should look at your lease to check the notice period - it's usually a month - a timescale which is considered 'reasonable'. Go and see Citizens Advice if you need any more information.

no, even if you are in breach there are procedures that need to be followed.

kerrykinsmalosevich
Absolutely not. A Landlord has to get a Court Order to get you to leave if you don't want to go. No matter what your Tenancy says, he certainly must give you at least a months Notice.

easy answer is no but it depends on your contract is it written or verbal? if you have a written contract eg a 6 or 12 month lease they have to abide by it - if it is verbal you have fewer rights

No he does not, he has to give you at least 30 days notice to end your tenancy. Plus if he has a set of keys to the property he is NOT aloud to walk right in , if i was you i would change the locks and go down to the Citizens Advice Bureau and seek advice.

no.
go to your local citizens advice and they will tell you what to do.

hellllooooo
No and No! He has to give u notice (i think 24 hrs) of an inspection and notice for eviction, the amount of notice he gives should be in your tenancy agreement. He cannot just chuck u out! We were given a months notice when we were renting adn the guy was selling up-it was a month as we paid rent on a monthly basis.

Good luck
