Does a washer and dryer typically stay with the home when you buy a house?
the realtor said he was gonna ask if the owners to leave the appliances. does this include the washer and dryer? he really only talked about the kitchen appliances so i was wondering

Appliances that are not attached do not usually stay unless specified in the listing. If you want those appliances included, you need to include that in your purchase offer.

Sandra M
You have to include this at settlement or in the terms of settlement.

Depends on what the owners choose to do.
My brother recently bought a new house and the owners left the washer and dryer and all of the appliances.
Usually, the main kitchen appliances are left, but some peopel like to bring their washer and dryer.
You should keep updating with your realtor to see if the owners are leaving the washer and dryer.

Friv
Freestanding appliances do not need to be stayed in the house. Microwaves that are mounted to the wall will stay and dishwashers will stay. Refrigerator and freestanding stove, No.

You can ask the seller to leave the appliances and put that in your offer. You'll know if they don't want you to have them because they will counter you.

Usually it is just the kitchen appliances because they are bought to fit in the space they are in. If you get the washer and dryer that would only be an added bonus.

Apartments the dryer is often fixed. Houses, no.

Agent
Usually they don't But I know some people that use it as an excuse to get a new one. It all depends on who the seller is.

Dawni Do Right
Our MLS has that included in the listing information.

Also our Purchase & Sale Agreements have boxes to check which appliances are included. If they are not being offered, you can still ask.

Typically washer & dryer are not included unless sellers are moving to a new home or downscaling & won't need them.

Yes, no, maybe, read the contract. If you expect it, and it's not included, adjust your offer, if not get a new set.
