Does any one know any place in CA where you can buy a home for 150,000 to 250,000?

Openthathouse.com
Yes, here in the Sacramento Region you can still get a piece of land with more than 1000 sq ft for that asking price. Some not in a good neighborhood and some are.

Check out realtor.com
www.sacbee.com>Homes> than choose your criteria you will come up with a couple of areas.

Also homes in the Central Valley are still around that price range as well.

If you need help in the Sacramento Region or want me to run a scenario please email me. Advise is always free and keeps me busy.

Yes, It is called a trailer, sorry but true, the prices are crazy here.

it depends if u want a new or older home! in fresno and bakersfield there are good houses both new and used for about $250,000 and $350,000! those are the best places i know of! and i should know because i live in central california where new little 2 bedroom houses cost $600,000 so we've also looked around for better priced homes! good luck!

HAHAHAHA...that's the best question....and I guess you're not looking for a very large house right.... um I love in the central valley one of the cheaper places to live that is near everything and most houses start at 250,000 at least for an older home with a couple bed rooms.... hurry up and try and area that is not developed yet. Look at places way outside LA, San Francisco, well stay away from the bay area and way down south all together. You're gonna find your best prices higher north or in the middle. Oh And I am from Fresno....trust me it's not that cheap here anymore.....fresno has over a million people now and everyone has caught on, in 10 years it will be LA. If your gonna go fresno route go HUD route if you want anything under 300,000

Perhaps around the Fresno area, but it won't be much. Expect a fixer-upper.

Sure, in San Francisco or Marina del Rey. Of course that's the going price for a doghouse otherwise you're looking at a house in Lodi.

Check the foreclosure lists; property tax list; or AS IS for sale list (which is probably in high risk neighborhood) Check with your local bank/ credit union for the lists.

You could buy your own property lot with a doublewide coach. The price range would approx. $150,000 to $200,000 and this would be a 55 yrs of age seniors and probably association fees. No rent and all you pay are taxes on your property and insurance which runs on a average of $700.00 to $900.00 yearly. Lot size: close to 1/4 acre so you are not on top of your neighbor. There are open parks too but you don`t own your own land..

WenchiePoo
you can find a few homes in the Antelope Valley for that price range....a few though...not a whole heck of a lot.

You should check http://www.realtor.com

I saw a few listings in that range there.

In the rural desert.

gilfinn
Yes, there are a lot of places in California where you can still buy a NEW home in that price range. The problem is, though, jobs... where the good paying jobs are, the cost of homes is much greater. As some have said, looking in the high desert areas you'll find better prices, but the climate and industry is less desirable. I've seen new homes listed in Alturas for under 200K, but there's nothing out there...

Now on the other hand, Boise, ID has homes on the cheap, and a lot of jobs.... but it's not California.

good luck - where i live in california, the median home price is nearing $1million. there may be some very small towns out in the middle of nowhere that you could find a trailer or very old house for that price, but the economy and job market there wouldn't be so hot. nor would the scenery. if you want a true california home, you are looking to spend at least $400k.
