We used it in May, when we wanted to get a home equity loan, and the response was overwelming. Our score (my hubby and I) together is about 660, and we heard back from 10-15 banks and lenders...Some of them were outragious, but most were decent. We ended up going with CitiBank..The had the lowest interest rate and our monthly payment for 80,000 is $550 a month...I would try them out, u are not obligated to anyone, and they will only send u the names of banks that u already meet their qualifications..so there is no run around..Good luck.. |

I highly recommend www.lendingtree.com.
I've obtained loans through them, two different times. When we found our car financing through them, it was easy, 4% less than my bank offered me -- plus I received a $300 sears gift certificate for combining my lendingtree auto loan with a carmax purchase. (it bought my family's christmas presents that year!)
After that, my husband worked for lending tree in their IT computer department. They take internet security very seriously. I would say their website is safe to use, which may not always be the case on smaller sites.
Good luck! |

simply put, the lenders that buy lending tree leads are paying a lot of money for them... Somebody has to pay that cost and that cost is passed on to you as the borrower. Personally (and I'm a bit biased on this one) You should find yourself a reputable loan broker. I don't care what anyone tells you, I have my brokers license and nobody can offer a more fair deal.
Understand that the larger the company, the more that company is spending on advertising. The more they spend on advertising, the more they have to charge to be profitable whereas, little word of mouth guys like me don't spend a penny on advertising and just want to be compensated fairly for the work we do.
btw... you should have a professional "rescore" your credit so you can show a 620 mid score. It takes about a week and will save you thousands of dollars. This is another trick that a reputable broker is going to be able to offer you. Stay clear of the turn and burn shops, they will make you an offer, hope you bite and then send you on your way, never to hear from you again. |

I've used LendingTree, I've had pretty decent results with it.
One time I got two "real offers" and two offers that were super low, and when I talked to the rep they pulled a bait and switch. Basically trying to get me in for a higher rate.
The other time, Capital One sent me a blank check at a comperable interest rate. The other two offers were WAY WAY off. |

I was not satisfied. They have select vendors and are hardly what they show on TV. I have a high FICO score so I never have problems obtaining mortgages. However, the mortgage companies LendingTree suggested were shady operations who merely send you paperwork (one wanted me to make the check out to him - no way baby) When I complained, LendingTree did not respond. I filed a complaint and they didn't respond to that as well. I wouldn't use the service - as far as I am concerned they are a bunch of Shylock's.
There are better choices. There are mortgage brokers at every intersection. Go to Emery Financial - they will treat you right and won't rip you off. |

I'm not a fan on online services like lending tree. They sell your info to mortgage brokers and loan officers and every company or loan officer pulls your credit before they call you. You could receive 20 phone calls from various people offering various rates. Most of us are legit and honest but some like to offer whats not available to get you to do business and then tell you that you don't qualify. I personally only work from referrals and do not buy these types of leads. I would recommend contacting a mortgage broker yourself before using any online service like lending tree. Based on the generic info you have given you should have no problem obtaining a mortgage as long as you have solid work history for the last 2 years. I hope this helps answer your question but if you need any further assistance or have any more questions feel free to visit my website www.dantadgerson.com. |

Please be extremely cautious when going to Lending Tree. They are brokers who farm you out to see if anybody will "Buy" your loan. Think about it...if all these different people are pulling your credit to see if they can approve you, your credit score will definetely drop! I am a real estate agent. I have actually had a few customers lose out on a house at commitment time because when the lender went to under write the loan...the customers scores had dropped...they lost the house 13 days before closing! Be careful! |

I'm not endorsing LendingTree, but some people seem to have a misconception about credit scores and pulling credit reports. It would be stupid to only get one estimate on a loan for a car, house, etc. The big credit bureaus know that people shop around for the best rate. As a result, it only counts against your credit score if you have a lot of inquiries over a long period of time. That means you're desperately and constantly trying to get credit for some reason, which means you're a risk. A bunch of inquiries over a short period of time mean you're shopping around. So as long as you get all your financial institutions lined up ahead of time, submit all your applications within a brief period of time, you should be fine.
