I have never met one in my whole life.
I have owned a lot of real estate.
I think you must hope for the best but assume the worst when dealing with these people. They think only of themselves and their commissions. |

Ask your friends and family, maybe one of them is an agent. But try to get one that you or someone close to you knows well or that you see a lot. That way you aren't as likely to get screwed over since they know they will have to interact with you after the process is over. It is just like buying a car, but on a bigger scale. Good ones do exist. Good Luck! |

Actually, I am an honest and hard working, loyal Real Estate Agent and loan officer. However, I do believe it is my down fall. I have found that no matter how much my clients say they want the whole truth and nothing but the truth, and they want to know EVERY step of the process, it's not true. You guys DON'T want to know every step of the process. I think I have scared people off by telling them the WHOLE truth and NOTHING but the truth. I do my job, and I do it well. I suck at lying. They say they LOVE my honesty, yet, I have a hard time keeping people motivated about their transaction when they start hearing my honest answers to their questions. I've been told time and again by other Loan Officers and Realtors to not disclose so much. I can't help being honest. |

From what state? City? There are many good and honest real estate agents. Most of the negative responses you have have not dealt with an agent before. I assure you there are many good ones. |

Estate Agents or Real Estate Agents in USA .
In the US you can contact your local RealEstate Board normally located at your States Capital for recommendations of certified agents.
In my opinion and having been in sales for a while the best way to locate a good honest agent is through word of mouth.
Word of Mouth will " make you or break you"
You can also choose to go with a well known national company as they screen their potential employees and they provide ungoing mandatory training for them which keeps their agents up to date on all the latest laws. |

No, but you do :-)
As with many things in life, the person with your best interests at heart is..... YOU !
Investigate doing it yourself using one of the many internet companies - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/moneybox/6578993.stm. The best book on the subject is - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Buying-Selling-Conveyancing-Joseph-Bradshaw/dp/1904053610
To get an idea of pricing, use the governments Land Registry data via - http://www.houseprices.co.uk/ and local newspapers.
Avoid Foxtons - see http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/4876542.stm
Hope this helps ! |

I'm realy hurt by these answers. There are good real estate agents out there. Granted there are those that are terrible that give the rest of us a bad name. But most do there best to get you the best deal they can. The best way to find a good agent is to talk with people you know that have used one latley and see what there exprience was like. find out if they were easy to get a hold of, if they were able to get straight answers to there questions, things like that. Then when you call the agent talk with them, see how they answer your questions, and how you feel about them. Don't sign an agreement until you see what they can do for you.
Good luck
For the rest of you that think there are no honest Real Estate Agents go to http://www.uthomelist.com and see one. |

I am moving at the moment through Haart - they aren't the cheapest, but they haven't disappointed me ... yet! We sold our place in under a week, though we haven't moved yet, so fingers crossed it won't all go horribly wrong. But so far, they have been quick to act and friendly too. Team seem to be pretty good also. |

Amazing you ask us to value your home, work 7 days a week for a property that will only pay us when it sells and until then everything we do is for free. Yet we are crooked lazy and a parasite !!
Yes there are many good estate agents out there and in the UK if you want the ability to get recompense if things do go wrong then make sure you use only those who are members of the Ombudsman for Estate Agents scheme OEA. These will abide by set rules and conditions |
