There are local laws against it in some places. For example in Bridgehampton NY it would be against the law if all of the people had different last names (that is how they determine people are unrelated). It is to prevent a bunch of young people from renting big houses in the Hamptons and making too much noise. It wouldn't matter if it were 10 bedrooms, it would be against the law there (big tickets). No idea how it is legal (since last name means nothing, and they do not enforce it unless you are young and loud), but they do it. |

This is a local law issue. Some towns have laws about the maximum number of people in a house, regardless of bedrooms. Some limit the number of unrelated people.
In general, 6 people can share a 3 bedroom house. |

It depends on your state. Where I live a two bedroom apartment can be occupied by up to five people. I'd imagine that you would be fine with 6 people in a 3 bedroom house. |

There is no problem with that, I do know that with more people there is a problem also when children reach a certain age they can no longer share a room if they are opposite sex. you might want to call the city and ask them. I am curious to know myself, I do know there are guidelines but I just don't remember them off hand. |

I think that would have more to do with how the rental lease is written. I don't think there's a "legal" law or anything. That would probably be up to the landlord. |
