Usually not on the shady side of town, but your average landlord want to know if you pay your bills or not.

If the rents much they will.
Its to hard to get a deadbeat out of you're house.

Find a private owner...a lot of times they won't pay the extra $$ for a credit check. My inlaws own numerous rental houses and they NEVER do credit checks. Don't rent from anyone that uses a company to rent out their houses...they will for sure do a credit check.
Good Luck

I don't think so. They need a tenant just as badly as you need a place. In all the places I've rented (I moved A LOT!!) nobody ever gave me trouble even when I was flat broke. One one occasion I did have a great job with a big company, and as soon as the landlord heard the name of the company, that was enough for him to let me move in. lol, I don't think I'm overly lucky and I'm not that wonderful of a person to woo a landlord. So don't you worry about a thing, darling. Look for a place and a landlord you like. Take care. :-)

They can and if they don't like what they see in the report, you could be turned down. They are attempting to protect themselves and doesn't want to get stuck with a deadbeat tenant. It costs the landlord allot of money to have a tenant legally evicted from there property.

If they do run a credit check, they may sit down with you and discuss what's on the report. As long as you can explain a ligament reason for something they didn't like on your report, they could give you a break.

nope, but if the rent is in the mid to upper range for your area I am sure all landlords will run a check...they need your money to pay their landlords (the bank)

not always some just want money

If they are smart they usually do. Although that is no reassurance that your tenant will pay on time each month. I had a tenant that ran a good credit check and then she never paid her rent on time. If you don't have much credit history, provide the landlord with references or someone that might co-sign with you on the lease. He/She just wants reassurance that you will pay your rent on time.

I live in Ohio- and every place I have applied to does. Which is terrible, because as a single mom I have some medical bills in collection from years ago. I have to live with my mom because I can't get my own place-even with a great job and great past references. It's nuts.
