Anyone wo will be signing the lease is subject to credit approval. It doesn't mean you won't be rented to, its a way of assessing risk. |

Yes it's legal because even if you decide (between you and your fiance) that only one will be paying the rent, your landlord can legally demand it from either of you, assuming the other person doesn't pay. They need to know how much of a risk any tenant is, even if there is more than one person in the building. |

The landlord has the right to check the credit of all who will be signatories to the lease, and generally landlords require that all who will live in the premises be signers of the lease.
Of course, you will need to sign an authorization form allowing him to check the credit. If one of you refuses to sign, he can simply reject your application. |

I'm sorry, I never heard of any landlord asking for anyone's credit score.
Most landlords ask for name, date of birth, age, present address and Social Security Numbers. THEN they submit the applicant's information to whoever they get their credit reports from and the score is on the report.
