Does this sound like a good deal for a first apartment?
It's a studio $400 a month rent. I can either sign a 12 month lease of go month by month. The security deposit is $300, and gas electric and sewage are all included. Also there is indoor parking for an extra $30 a month. This sounds really good to me and the place looked very nice. Just a little nervous about being out on my own. Does this sound like a good place for a first timer?

Also if anyone can offer any advice at all I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

It sounds like a good deal--I would make sure to do a walkthrough BEFORE moving anything in--use a checklist, both you and your landlord should sign it and keep a copy....you'll want to do the same thing when you move out.

Read your contract, know your RIGHTS & RESPONSIBILITIES!!! The local library will usually have this information on file if you need to reference something. I personally would sign the year contract, so that your rent rate is locked in at the $400/month. Otherwise, they could change the rate on you--not that they necessarily would, but they could.

It's probably a fine place for a first-timer...as long as you are OK with the fact that the apartment is pretty much just one room (plus the bathroom), and have figured out how everything is going to work (i.e. are there appliances to cook meals on? Is there ample space for your belongings? Is there a good chance you have obnoxious neighbors? etc.) As long as you have that stuff figured out, and are agreeable to dealing with them, you should be good to go if you remember to follow the important legal steps to save your butt if necessary.

Hope that helps!!

I don't know what city/state you live in, but that sounds like a good deal for Michigan, and Michigan tends to be sort of expensive... not as expensive as say, California though. If the place looks clean and/or safe, and all that stuff is included, I'd say that's a good deal. Around here you can't even rent a bedroom in an old cat-lady's house for 400 a month. Also, if it doesn't cost more, opt for the month-to-month. If you find a sewer rat your first week, you won't want to be stuck in a year lease.

that sounds like a good deal. you just have to remember its a studio.. so if you have family or friends over they will be in your room and living room at the same time!
I would aim from a one bedroom I am sure its not much more...

It sounds perfect! Make sure anything wrong with the place is written down and signed by the manager so you don't get blamed for any damage. You may want to talk to some of the people who live there and ask if it's quite or if they know of any problems living there. Otherwise, you sound good to go! Enjoy your new freedom!!

Sounds sweet. go for it. the first step is the biggest.

that actually sounds like an incredible deal. just depends on what kind of neighborhood the apartment is in. if its a decent neighborhood, absolutely go for it. either lease is fine, but a month to month doesnt give you the same security that a 12 month does. good luck!

Check everything to make sure it is clean and everything is in working order. check how many outlets you have the more the better, and that there is phone jack that works. also take pictures before you move in so if you ever move out and they try to keep your deposit proof that you didnt mess anything up. and i mean everthing from carpet and the in side of the stove and fridge. window covering etc. it sounds like a good offer. the only thing is that if you sign a lease your stuck there for a year and if you sign up for month to month your rent can go up with very little warning. Also make sure this is in your budget and you can afford everything.

Im always right
Cheap as chips fella. Go for it

Sounds like a great deal to me, but it depends where in the country you live and what the price of real estate is in your area.
I would say go with the month to month lease, you won't feel pressured to move ever or you can move whenever you want.

Good luck!!
