always right | Estate agents often say "Viewing highly recommended". Does anyone actually buy a property without viewing it |

Yes, I have known people who bought property sight unseen. Not very wise. When they say viewing highly recommended, it means the house is worth seeing. Maybe reading the description you might not be to interested, but they are telling you it's really worth looking at. |

They mean that it's a "must see" and not to miss out on going to see it. |

You'd be surprised, especially those buying for investment (flipping). |

Sometimes people are buying from afar and can’t travel to where they’re buying. If you’re buying a home at an auction you can’t see it in advance. In this case though it’s simply the agent’s attempt to drum up interest. I crack up at some of the descriptions I see agents write.
When I was house hunting, it took about two houses for me to realize what a difference there is between the house you think you’re looking at in photos online and the house you really see when you go look at it. Photos can hide a world of truth! |

Yep! Sight unseen happens ... sometimes national investors will do this if they trust their local real estate agent to check it out for them, or if it is a "hot property" and the person wants to move fast and can't get there, or if the buyer is international. Definitely not recommended if you can actually get there ... If your real estate agent is slick enough - which hopefully you hire someone that is - they can bulk up the offer or letter of intent with contingencies that could give you an opp to walk on the deal if it turns out to be a disaster before closing.

Yeah there was an article last year in the Belfast Telegraph about investors who were buying bricked up properties without having seen inside them!!! |

Absolutely. I have out of town buyers, especially on land, that will buy sight unseen.
Maybe the "viewing highly recommended" is a marketing technique, sort of a "must see" type thing. |
