Get away with Pet fee?
I am moving to a new apartment and I am getting a puppy as a gift from my husband. I found out that the pet fee is 250 and we do not have that money right away because we have to pay all the deposits and the rent too. Can I sneak in the puppy for a few weeks until I start working and making more money and then paying the pet fee? if they find the puppy can they kick me out?

They probably won't kick you out, because it's not like they don't allow pets at all...just play dumb, and say you weren't aware of a pet deposit. All they'll do is ask you for it...UNLESS you have a dog that may exceed their guidelines...some apartments have bans on certain breeds and dogs that exceed certain weights....THAT they will either ask you to get rid of the dog or leave the apartment.

Other than that, I have never heard of someone being evicted b/c a dog was discovered....it's not that big of a deal...but just have the deposit ready on the day of discovery.

i think that it depends on the apartment staff
they might if they get angry and even find out that you do have a puppy
but it might also work out if your puppy doesn't make a lot of noise and isn't trouble

you will not be able to hide a puppy

What I have done is tell them about the dog and say that I will pay them with the next rent check. Sometimes I do pay and other times I have gone the entire lease without paying and have never been kicked out. I have lived in five different complexes and never had a problem with paying later if at all.

Yes they can kick you out if they want to if they find out you have the puppy before you tell them about it. It will just depend on them.

If they ask just say you didn't know and you'll pay them as soon as you get your paycheck, just save alittle everyday until you have enough to pay it, but don't pay until they ask

You would be violating the terms of your agreement if you "sneak" in a puppy. Now, everytime you go to rent a place, and someone calls that landlord for a reference, they can say "they violated the terms of their contract by having an unauthorized pet". Find someone in your family that can keep the puppy until you can afford the pet fee. Also, make sure that the breed of puppy is one that your apartment complex will even allow. Most have either breed restrictions or weight restrictions.

They may not kick you out, but they could make you get rid of the puppy. You don't want to get off on the wrong foot with your new complex managers, so you may want to let them know up front, but promise to keep the pet created at all times, except with taking him out for a walk.

If it is in your lease and you signed it, then yes they can evict you.
