HELP!!! My neighbors are so noisy with their LOUD music!!! Any help would be appreciated.?
My neighbors are driving me crazy! They play their music so loud that my floor literally shakes. This has been going on for about 3 months on and off, for hours at a time. I have complained numerous times to the assistant manager and main manager of apartment complex. I've even called patrol on them. How do I make them stop? And how do I talk to my manager effectively that something will happen! I know that they already sent a legal letter to them. Any help would be appreciated, I can't stand this any longer, and moving is not an option. The manager said that I'm not the only one that has been complaining.
Additional Details
I forgot to mention. The very first thing I did is go down and POLITELY ask them to turn the music down because it was midnight and my husband had to wake up at 4AM. They turned it down for about 5 minutes and turned it back up. Also my lease agreement specifically states NO LOUD music aloud. So my question is how can I get my manager to take care of this problem? Does anyone have a sample legal letter I can write?

You can continue to complain but the thing is they are allowed to play their music during the day and I do believe the limit is somewhere around 11 PM. I know it's annoying but that's how the law goes and I don't know how much you can really do. Calling the cops all the time won't help you because cops aren't gonna come over at 2 PM because of noise. Now if it were 3 AM there would be an issue there and they would come. I know a few people who had the same problem and the people either moved to another apartment, or they found creative ways to deal with the problem. I don't know what those ways were, though.

If the manager does nothing, you can't do anything. Have more people talk to the manager and if nothing works, then I'm sure there is a number you can call. I've heard of places that help people like you and maybe you should look into that. Talk to the manager again this week and see what can be done. You can also talk to the people making the noise but I don't know if they'll care to lower their volume. You can try.

call the police. get the other tenants together and confront the people....have you tried just talking to them face-to-face?

jarmstrong382000
That happened to me, soon after major surgery. The walls of our house felt that they were shaking. Disturbing the peace is against the law. You have to call the police. I did, and was told that if the noise and partying didn't stop that I should call again. Within 10 minutes the music stopped and peace returned. As others have said, call the police and do it every time your are disturbed with the noise. You may even be able to ask other neighbors to report this to the police.

trinimantobago
just live with it god neighbors that call the cops coz of loud music are gay

do the same thing to them and see if they like it
or just call the police again
they can get a ticket for disturbing the peace

Have you tried talking to the neighbor? If you don't want to go alone, ask the manager to gather up the other people that are complaining and meet with the noisy neighbors... sort of like an intervention. Maybe they'll respect the request more when it's coming from multiple people.

Send the manager a written notice of the problem, listing the occurrences, describing the problem, and noting what you have done. . . .complaints, reports, etc. Note that the problem has not been resolved despite 3 months of complaints and that other neighbors are also being disturbed. Request the management resolve the problem by the end of the month. Make a businesslike letter and mail it to them, copying the asst mgr, and get any other neighbors you know to sign it as well.

Be aware that written complaints tend to get more credence and action. Also know that if they're moving to evict this tenant it can take months, and there's not a whole lot they can do. They can knock on the door at the time of occurrences and they can call police.

Sorry for all the aggravation.

bsdohyeah
I think you you should call the cops and if they don't listen ask the cops to threten them with guns. Good luck.

omg tell me about it.. my neighbors are just as bad..at 2 in the morning last night they kept shooting LOUD fire crackers which woke my entire family up..we thought that some thing exploded or their was some kind of war but of course we werent suprised to find that it was our wonderful neighbors.. my dad then went over and had a very serious conversation with them and told them that if they do not stop this immediatley we will most defienetly complain.but in your case i would march right up to the people and talk to them in person and say that if they do not stop you will sue them for numerous of reasons. good luck!

Aimz
dont you just hate noisy neighbours?
seeing as you already complaint numerous times to your manager have you tried talking to them personally? it seems like their not going to budge so you may have to talk someone with higher authority. maybe go down to your local police station and talk to them about it. if their making noise especially at inconvenient times it could be filed under harrassement seeing as you have already sent them a legal letter and their not budging.

hope this helps...

I would start by reading your lease. While your lease won't say anything about a loud neighbor stomping around in workboots or throwing pots and pans in the cabinets, leases usually (especially in apartment complexes) have a line item against playing stereo equipment at a certain volume during certain hours of the day (usually 11PM-7AM). If your landlord can't figure that out, the local authorities can impose noise ordinances.

Sounds like they have fun and your boring.

kemperk
if reasonable actions on your part do not provide solutions,
try two things;

sue the tenant for disruption to your peace that is expectable
and tell the landlord that the noise is harming your health
and you are leaving based on CONSTRUCTIVE EVICTION and then
leave. CE means life threatening.

call the cops daily.

You have to call the cops on them each and every time. It's the only thing to do. People like that are so d*mn inconsiderate, playing their stupid music so loud. The manager can't make them stop. Only the police can make them stop temporarily. Just don't let it be known to the neighbors that you made the call. People that inconsiderate can prove to be very dangerous, trust me.

my suggestion is continue to call the police on them. After a while the police will take more severe action.

traci1646
I had this problem once, my neighbors worked midnight shift so they would start partying at 8 in the morning. so I kept waiting for it to be their bedtime and I blared music at them. They got the hint.

Jason S
bug the management about it as much as the people bug you. sooner or later management will get fed up and take it seriously

albookristinaa<3
happend with me too
somebody called the police and they stopped for like a month. then they did it againn.

i say just keep callin the police they will get sick of it and will prolly stop

EVANS HERE YAY!!! WHAT A BIG GUY
First off I have to say it but you should have talked to them first. Thats one reason why people dont get along cause if they are bothered by the noise they run to the office and complain. If you would have tried talking to them first and build a good base with them then all you have to do is go over and say hey can ya turn it down the might have. What you need to do now is video tape it. If you can show something on the floor moving from the vibrations also make sure you can hear the music on the tape you make, and go to everyroom and show the noise level. Also start making notes and keeping track of when the music starts and when it stops. you can also try having everyone in the building sign a letter asking for managment to do something. by law they have to give 30 days so unfortunatly once they are kicked out they will get worse and the only way to speed the eviction up would be if they threaten or cause harm to another tent GL

JST ME 4 A WHILE
Well, have you tried talking to the neighbors about it? Try that if you have not. If you have then you should call your local police. But don't bother if you want to remain anonymous. In order to get them to shut down the noise you have to be willing to sign a complaint, which means you are willing to testify in court that they are disturbing the peace. If you are willing to do those things, the person playing the music can be cited and have to pay a fine. I would hope that would get them to stop. But at the same time, it make things uncomfortable at the place that you need to live. You need to decide how you want to handle it.

Talk to the other neighbors, and then u all get together and tell the manager, then when if no work there, when music starts up, have ALL neighbors call police on them, one right after the other.

Heisenberg
shut up and call the cops.

additionally, apartment complex = rental. go to the rental office, they (both neighbor and renter) are violating your legally protected rights

Check out the noise ordinances for where you live most cities have them and then get all your neighbors to sign a petition.

You can always sue if you can afford it. Talk to an attorney.

Hire me to throw poop at them

If I were you I would try talking to the neighbor myself. Go there during a time when you know they are there and are not playing the loud music. Talk to them and tell them politely that this really bothers you. Tell them that it makes your apartment shake and that you are having trouble relaxing in your own place. Just be yourself, don't be angry and don't have an attitude. You will accomplish more if you are honest and polite to them. You can also tell them that you don't mind the music but not so loud. If this doesn't work then I guess you ill have to wait for the manager or you can sue them!!

call the police and continue your complaints to your manager. If your manager gets fed up with the complaints he'll do something about it.

Have a music war!!!! Beat them at their own game. What music do they play generally?? Rock heavy metal rap what?? Play the oppisite of what they play. Like symphony or what ever.
