I am homeless and have a 5 year old child, i am not eligible for council help as 3 years ago i lost my property, through difficulties i was going through. I have even been to solial services. Even they cant help.. i dont know where to turn next. if anyone has any ideas please help!!!!! |

Go to Shelter, or go back to your council. They have to help you if you are in priority need, have a connection to the area and did not make yourself deliberately homeless. Clearly you have been living somewhere for the past 3 years, the question is why you left/had to leave there. If it was becasue of domestic abouse you should contact the Woman's Aid Movement.
ps who IS your council ? they're really unhelpful. |

If you're homeless with a child the council has to help you irrespective of your past. They have a legal duty to find you accomodation, whoever told you you're not eligible for help is talking out of their ar*e. Go to the Citizens Advice, they will help you get it sorted.
I was made homeless 5 years ago, my kids & I were put into a B&B for a couple of months then given a flat. |

Even if they dont give you a house they will put you in a half way house.

contact shelter, you are entitled to council assistance as the council is legally obliged to house the homeless, but the system sucks Shelter will help you with the council bearocrats, good luck |

no council can turn you down with a child.....unless you have caused problems before or have refused accommodation they have previously offered you....how come you are on here if you are homeless..if you can afford to pay for this then you can afford a home or at least the rent on it |

What happened 3 years ago is irrelevant. The only way they can say they don't have a duty to you now is if you are intentionally homeless this time. By Law, with a child they have a duty to find you accommodation (although this may only be B&B, or other temporary accommodation) unless you are intentionally homeless. This is under the Housing Act, so go back and tell them that under the Housing Act they have to accommodate you - its the Law!! |

how can you not be eligble if your homeless they have to help. speak to someone higher in the council not just the muppet sat at the desk or at the call center.

The one organisation that will not turn you down is the salvation army, believe me they are the most understanding and own many properties |

I am sure that you should get help with a child, (although the child may be put into fostercare). Try having a sit in at the council office or police station, or town hall and contact local news paper. |

I FEEL YOUR PAIN. I WOULD FIRST TRY YOUR LOCAL BATTERED WOMEN'S SHELTER. THEY ARE VERY FLEXIBLE WITH THEIR CRITERIA.
AND BY THE FEW...PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE IGNORANCE OF THE POSTER OF HOW YOU POST THE QUESTION. HOMELESS PEOPLE GENERAL HANGOUT IN PUBLIC PLACES LIKE LIBRARIES WHERE THE COMPUTER USE IS FREE. |
