Andre F | HOW LONG SOULD A CARPET BE IN A HOUSE BEFOR IT'S REPLACED BY THE LANDLORD? |

Can I assume you have some nasty, foul carpet you want the landlord to replace? Sounds disgusting; sorry.
Unfortunately, there are usually no laws or rules governing this so you end up at the whim of whatever the landlord thinks is reasonable. You could check with your local housing authority to see if there are any local rules about it however.
Outside of that there's not much you can do other than to move or take the landlord to small claims court. You can do that but you run the risk of losing in court. |

Depends on how well taken care of it is. They don't have to change it in between tenants, only cleaned- I know that for a fact. |

Most decent carpets come with a 10 year limited wear warranty but there's no law governing when or if a landlord has to replace it. |

Until the carpet becomes unserviceable. There is no time frame involved in this. It is the condition of the carpet which determines whether or not it should be replaced. |

The time frame for carpets will vary depending on certain factors which include the quality of materials used and the number of tenants (and pets) in a household.
--- There is no exact amount of time by law in any state that dictates when something needs replacement.
Some carpets wear out too soon because it's cheap and won't last a long time. Others last a very long time because of high quality materials. Then you have to consider if it's a full house of people, pets, a single person, etc.
There is no exact answer for this without specifics. |

That depends on the condition of the carpet. If it's stinky, dirty and just look bad. Then if should be changed. |

depends on the condition |

Most courts give the landlord 5 to 7 years life span for carpet. But, the landlord does not have to replace carpet unless it is a hazard. So just because the carpet is not pretty or brand new, does not mean it has to be replaced. As long as it was clean when you moved in and does not have any trip hazards then it should be fine.
Caring for the carpet once you move in is your responsibility. You should be vacuming on a weekly basis and having it cleaned once or twice a year. If you are not maintaining it and it has to be replaced (either before or after you vacate) you can be held responsible for a portion of the replacement. |

It depends how dirty it is, I would say if the tenant does not move every 5 or 8 years, if it is good carpet, it is cheap carpet 3 to 4. But it could be clean for about 10 years it depends on the tenant. |
