If you have time and want to save money, then selling your home yourself is worth it. However, you would have to know the market and price your home correctly so that it can sell within a reasonably amount of time. You would need to meet with potential buyers at any hour of the day/evening. And most important you need to let everyone you know that you're selling...in other words, get the word out. When you find a buyer, hire a real estate lawyer or realtor to help with the paperwork. It's take work to sell a home, but you save thousands of dollars if you decide to sell it yourself.

I tried, it was hard, people wanting to come and see it at all hours, calls for months after it was sold, and the paperwork was hell! I suggest you hire a realtor. |

Yes & No. Sold a house in Manchester on a much sought after estate. Got more than nay of the local agents were advsing me to sell for. Purely by word of mouth. Tried to sell current house myself (internet, newpapers, sign outiside house) got a few viewings but got lots more viewings with a "posh" estate agent. So what can I say. Conclusion - depends upon your local market condtions. |

I sold my own house. It was on an estate where people wanted to move. I made my own board put it up and it was sold within a week. Not saying it is always that easy but put your own board up put advert in local paper. No harm in trying. But you have to be prepared to do the haggling of the house price. |

I have not sold my own home - but have done many For Sale By Owner Property for my clients. Being a Mortgage Professional, when my cleint finds a For ale By Owner, I do the purchase agreement with the seller and the buyer, order the sellers payoff on his mortgage, order the appraisal, inspections, title for both, etc.... If you are looking to sell your home, hopefully your buyer will have a Mortage Broker/Professional what will do all of the above. I do what the realitors do....and save the seller money. That way, maybe a seller would be willing to help my client with some of their closing cost associated with their loan. |

selling your own home is best with a good lawyer that you trust. Know your price, set your self time and never be to keen when people are looking. Always point out the good things but don't shy away from the things that need looked at, ensure you have had a good clean around and all your things are put away. A untidy place will put people off and if you need to sell fast then do your work, it will pay off. All the best. |
