Has anyone had their home reposessed.?
If so where did they move to, do councils rehome them ?.

Cat2007
Yes, unfortunately in the 80's I was one of the many who had their home reposessed.
The council didn't rehome us straightaway. We had two children one of 5 and the other a new born. Luckily one of my friends took us in and I slept on their floor until eventually the council said they would rehouse us.
We went to look at the house (in the worst possible area in the City of course) there were people there who hadn't moved out! We'd been given the keys and were discussing what to do with the place. It was so embarassing.

I don't know if you're religious but I prayed harder than I'd ever prayed before and a few weeks later my husband got a job with accomodation in a much nicer area.

It may all sound awful, but I would never change that experience for anything. It made me stronger and I now appreciate everything I have in my life.

honey
The council will decide whether you are intentionally homeless. If you have kids they may offer you temporay accomadation...b&b...hostel,and not necessarly in the town you are now.
Please go the Citizens Advice Bureau ,they can give advice on debts and houseing in your area.
Good Luck

YES....In the UK the council will rehouse you if you have dependant children, although you may end up in Bed and Breakfast accomodation for a short while.

peter o
yes the barstards.took everything in the cardboard box.has well.

JonBonJovi
Councils don't want to know.

Instead of going down the repossession route you could try a sale and rent back arrangement from a reputable company of property investors.

Do your research though so you don't get caught out and also you will not get teh full value of your home back which may be ok if you have enough equity in it.

Councils wil rehome in certain circumstances especially if there are children involved but its not a guarantee - you will be assessed.

the main thing is not to bury your head or get sick with worry, act straight away at the first instance you cannot pay your mortgage and often a lender may be able to help ease payments if you talk to them.

The Citizens Advice Bureau is a good start as well.

Your home can only be "repossessed" if you live in a trailer....other than than, a home is foreclosed on...
