Housing is expensive these days.. can't people just start living in their cars.. is this a fix?
Plus there'd be no mortgage or payments. i mean, say a car is 8,000 to 14000 or whatever. Isn't that better than buying a house which can be 200,000 and up ( at least in CA)

I know people who have Motor homes kinda live this way.. but how about if people use their normal cars as homes.

can this be a solution? Like even instead of renting aparmtne, people can just pay for a car then own it.

Landlord
People already choose to live in cars.

Everyone determines their own income and life styles. If you want to live in your car it is already legal and an option that you are free to choose for yourself.

How are you going to shower? Public facilities are nasty. You should have higher standards for your quality of life.

Couple of issues:

Bathroom.
Taking a shower.
Parking.
Laundry.
Living space.
Heat. (cars normally don't have insulation)

In general, the difference between a car and an RV is whether or not is has a working toilet (and sticking a port-a-potty in the back of the pickup doesn't count.)

I've traveled around quite a bit and I use my car as a 'hotel on wheels'. Google for sites about car living and homelessness. Overall I'd say it's not worth it if your not constantly traveling (if you do constantly travel it is well worth it, and 'car camping' used to be seen as a valid way to travel).

If you've got a steady work situation it's far more pleasant to get an apartment and cram a bunch of people into sleeping nooks. This gives you: a place to keep your stuff, a place to sleep with climate control, a bathroom and shower in the morning. Depending on where you live you can get your rent down to $150 or less (note that this is generally illegal as there are laws as to maximum occupancies in residences, but if done discreetly...). A crowded apartment is not a good hang out place, but if you were considering living in your car, then you already consigning yourself to living outside of your residence.

I understand that but unfortunately.. no. Where would you shower, use the restroom, and eat at? You'd spend more money eating out all the time and having to use public facilities. A camper would def, be the way to go on this since you do have your own bathroom and such. Or if you take your car and live on a campground it would be good.. but then again youd have to rent the land from the campground. I know homes cost a lot.. I own one. And I don't know if you are looking, or just coming up with ideas.. but because it is a buyers market I got a super low interest rate and I pay about $200 less a month then I would if I lived in an apt. But for sure.. a car would def. be cheaper just not comfortable!!

you can.......but I'd rather have a house

Yes, people live in vans or panel trucks more than cars but you can live in a car. The problem is keeping clean and well dressed. If you belonged to a health club or had a shower at work you could shower daily, some homeless shelters have day services with a shower. The problems would be having a place to park where you weren't towed or in danger and boredom that would make long boring evenings and you couldn't cook. Laundry in laundromats but no place to iron and keeping clothing from wrinkling would be a problem.
My boyfriend has a 11.5 foot camper on a truck and stayed in that for weeks at a time but he had a bathroom and kitchen. He got run off the work parking lot and another he was allowed to use for a while. He was working 16 hours a day so with a long commute he only came home once or twice a week to do laundry and sleep in a bed but he had a tv in the camper so not as boring as a car.
A more reasonable answer would be renting an apartment with other people even 6 guys sharing a 2 bedroom one bath apartment would be more comfortable and probably only 200 a month each.

You could but think of the many many inconveniences. Getting mail, food, laundry, entertainment, use of a bathroom, use of a shower, comfort, etc, etc, etc. If you can live with these then sure it is more convenient and less expensive.
