I know what you mean. I live near Dallas and my $500,000. home here on 11 acres would be worth several million in Cali. Or for the same half a million I would be living in a very tiny house with no land near the ghetto. I don't understand why anyone would want to do that. I guess it's the whole keeping up with the Jones's thing.
And I've been to Cali many, many times and I would NOT live there! |

No, we do not make 10x as much as people in Texas but we do make more. Many other things are more expensive here to such as gas.

have u seen flip flop or flip it,,,some tlc show about renovating a house and selling it for thousands more.......they had a mobile home that would cost like $30,000 in texas and they were selling it for $200,000.....thats like a huge difference...but the cost is more expensive over there. i know u can get a good nice house for $80,000 in texas |

Is that same Texas house in California?
Have you ever played Monopoly? Why are Baltic Avenue and Mediterranian Avenue so much cheaper than Park Place and Boardwalk? They are, after all, just two properties in each of their own colors.
Maybe it has something to do with where they are. In Texas, where you are, you don't have as much demand for those houses nor the people willing to pay those prices. In California, the demand exists to push the property values higher.
Some people can't afford real estate in either state. |

Texas has the highest unemployment rate in the whole United States whereas California- people can get a job.
