How can I find out What the square footage of my house? Is it any of the house documents?
Does it show in my Deed or any document I obtained when I bought my house?

It is almost impossible to get it exactly accurate, but your tax bill and your appraisal from the purchase should have it listed on them.

T J
Usually it's on the listing sheet, but you will likely also find it on your tax bill.

Tax records can be off, builders can be off as can any informatin you may find. The only true and guranteed way to find out is to measure the outside of the house where livable and multiply width x length. Don't add the garage or subtract it from the results if you included it in the results.

ogrendle
Measure the length and width and multiply them. That is your sq. ft.

County Records Dept. + if you had a home inspection when you bought, it will state it there. Not sure about the deed, hmmm...

Island agent
You might be able to find it a zillow.com or taxnet.com
They are hooked up to the tax offices.

johnbndallas
not always but it will be on the appraisal if you have one and on the tax records at your courthouse

multiply length x width=your sq. ftg

mark_daspit@ameritech.net
It won't be in any of those documents. You can go to the county building department and they should have the detailed plans, from which you should be able to figure out your square footage. Do you think what was represented is not accurate?

yes it should have the footing in the paper work you got when you purchased the house. good luck

Ask the builder. Taxing authorities can be incorrect. You can measure it yourself. Most don't include closet space or garage space. If you trust the taxing authority, then it's usually something like Harris County Appraisal District or something along those lines. Just do a search on the net for your county appraisal district and go from there. Did you get a floor plan when you bought it? Does the survey show the house or just the lot? It wouldn't be on the deed. If it was listed on the MLS it might still show that info depending on how long it has been since you bought it. Ask a REALTOR.
