If your dad has an insurance policy of his own, there may be coverage that carries over for the car he buys you for a certain amount of time (normally 30 days). He may call his insurance agency to be sure... Or you can initiate an insurance policy with an agency and get an insurance binder as proof of your intention to get the insurance policy. The tax thing I'm not sure about... you should get a bill of sale or something proving you've paid for the car and are in the process of getting the title transferred over. You're under age. You can't legally buy a car, or the transaction can be voided, so get your father to buy it for you with your money and have him drive it home. |

Go with BOTH of your parents, to the dealer. Buy the car. And have one parent drive the original car and the other drive the new one home, and ride with one of them. Oh yeah, and you're gonna need insurance anyway. Cuz if you're learning to drive on a new car, and it gets totaled and you don't have insurance, you're screwed. good luck, kid. |

You could explain your situation to the seller and perhaps he'd do the deal near your house, also your Dad would be there to over see any problems if they where to arise e.g somebody ripping you off!

the guy who will sell you the car will need to make you provide a liscence with the DVLA so you cant buy one you can only learn with someone elses car or get a provisional driving lisenece |
