How can I move out of my parents house?
I live in Orange County and am currently going to college. I want to leave my parents and get my own place but I don't have the money. I feel like I can't make enough money while going to school to do it. Any ideas?

FinalThought182
well, just have get a job that pays decent, and maybe in the summer get a good job with good pay, save up, don't spend it and you'll probably get a decent place. Or, you can ask your parents for a couple hundred dollars to rent a condo or apartment out while your working, so after you get started you can stay there?

Get a roomate..or 2 ..make sure the apt is affordable

Real Estate Guy
are your parents paying for college?
Have you discussed the fact that you want to move?
Can you live on campus?
What about renting a room.
Do you work? There are loans, work study, etc.

Mildred S
i don't think you can move out while you are going to school without work interfering with your studies. As long as the situation is tolerable, I would live there. Prepare to transition out. Part of being an adult, is making good decisions. If it's not a good time for you to move out , then some self control and do this when the time is right. I'd have a job by the time you graduate and have some money saved. You can work two or three jobs in the summers and have a nice bank account built up by graduation time.

You can work two jobs, attend college and save your money. It's not as easy as it sounds to move out on your own, so make sure you save enough.

If I were you I would stay as long as possible and save money. If you can't stand them then look for a roomate to share the bills.

work part time, do weekends, evenings, whatever as long as it doesnt interfere with your school work. i love my family but i couldnt live with them now im at college, my independence is worth working my *** off

i live in orange county, and most my income goes to rent. a small 2 bedroom, one bath, duplex in buena park, (gang neighborhood) cost me $1200.00 in rent. you might want to look in the ad's for someone needing a room mate. make sure you get kitchen privileges, and your own bathroom. it still will run you about $600.00, or more a month, plus your share of utilities. studio apartments run $800.00 and up. do a search on line for apartments to get a feel of the prices in the different cities. i work as an hotel reservationist by disneyland at $12.50 per hour. with all my utilities, phone, rent, groceries, gas for the car, etc. i'm close to broke all the time. it's easier to be with your parents until you get finished with college. just work part time to help out with your needs, and pass a couple bucks to the parents for food, etc.

Meet up wit someone, make friends, or room with relatives taht live in the area.

If you cant work i guess you will have to stay put. Or does your college allow boarders? What about a part time job and a little apartment with a few flatmates contributing?

Mark C
What do you think? We all give things up to get what we want. Sorry, if you'll parents will have you, I suggest you stay there until you can be self sufficient. I'm not sure why you can't make enough to support yourself - it's not easy but lots and lots of people do it - I did...

I would try and stay with your parents as long as you can. Get a job now and start saving. The best idea would be a waiter or bartender. The hours are opposite school hours, and you don't have to put in too many hours to make some good money. After saving for a while, try to get as many roommates together as you can to live with. The more people you live with (even when living in a larger place than if you lived with less people), the cheaper it'll be for each of you.
Not sure what your degree you are going for, but if it's something where you are going to be making pretty decent money afterwards, you could get or add on to your student loans for living expenses. I would try to avoid this as much as possible, because it's gonna suck having to pay them later, but it can be beneficial because you can work less and focus on doing better in school and end up with a better job afterwards.

Ashlee
put a ad in the paper or somewhere stating that you are looking for a resonsible roomate or ask a buddy from your college or something. Interview these people to find out about their jobs and income.. compare your income with theirs and make sure its enough money to take care of everything you need!

Good Luck

stay with your parents and finish school, it's the only free ride you'll get so enjoy it while you can. I now own my own house and have for a while but I miss living with my parents and having extra money in my pocket and none of the responsibility of home ownership. OH that was the good life.

If you are going to school is there no way you can live on campus in the meantime?
