let your real estate agent know that you want to get an appraisal done on your property and they will get an appraiser to come out and give you a price on your home and property |

just ring the estate agents and tell them you would like a valuation! most of them do it for free, if you only want to know out of interest an your not moving dont tell them or they charge you |

Other than the obvious step of asking some estate agents for a free valuation, you could try looking for similar properties near you on the websites below: |

Go to 'upmystreet' and get a rough guide.Or register with propertyprices.co.uk and they will tell you what the last house in your street sold for. Or you can get a couple of agents to come and value the house for you- you don't have to put it on the market- tell them you are just thinking about it. |

get a valuation done by a few estate agents. If you don;t wish to do that, see if there are any similar houses for sale in your street and go to the agent to see how much they are asking, but this will only give you a very rough idea. |

register with houseprice spy.com then you can find out how much the houses are selling for in your street or area. |

Coldwellbanker.com has one that I've found tends to be closer to the real value than zillow.
it's at

None of these tools are perfect, but they should give you an idea. |

perhaps it is obvious but no one seems to have told you that a property valuation is free. I personally would get three or four so that you dont get an unrealistic "estate agent" price.. "we could get you x amount for this sir just leave it with us" they will tell you anything to get the paper work signed....... play em |

You could look for properties similar to yours and in the same area on the Internet and that should give you a good idea, you could also ask an Estate Agent / Realtor over to make the judgement, certainly in the U.K. both of these should be relatively easy to do. |

You can check with your assessors office or check your state website for the tax office. There is also websites that tell you but they are not as accurate as you might want. If you are thinking of selling your home, have an agent run a Comparitive Market Analysis on at least 3 different properties within a mile of your property. this will give you an idea of what the market can stand. |
