It depends if you have any money at all you could look at a buy to let like a 2bedflat/ house for 130k you will only need a 25 percent deposit and rent the second room out to bring your income up to manage the mortgage payments and put the mortgage over say 30/35 yrs. So start saving it will be worth it in the end. or consider a joint mortage with close friends say for 10yrs till you gain capitial on the place so you both have a bigger deposit to go on your own.

Cautious Norm.
The short answer is ..... you can't.

ikia are selling houses cheap or some Barrett houses are doing a new thing for 1st time buyers where you only pay 50 % for a new build dint know if there is a down side to this

floppity
You can't! All you can do is save, and get a good enough job for someone to give you a mortgage. The average age now for buying a first house in the UK is 35.

Find a web site where you can swap stuff. Put something that you don't want up for a swap. Then keep swapping stuff. Maybe eventually you will get a house or something that you can sell to get a house. Crazy idea but it could be intersting

best to buy somewhere up north as its much cheaper there - only problem is that it may need doing up and may take some time to rent out to get income
