Barry C | How can my GF get her roommate to move out? |
My GF is 48 and has a same age room mate that was a friend. They have a 1 year lease with 6 months remaining. The lease is in Michigan and my GF is the primary holder and her room mate is considered a resident. My GF can't live with her room mate anymore. The room mate is nasty, rude, messy, bossy, moody, etc. Her behavior has only gotten worst since my GF and I have gotten closer (she's jealous). My GF has tried over and over again to keep things civil to no avail. She could go to court to have her evicted, but it would take 30 to 60 days and cost her to be served plus she would have to live in the atmosphere created by the process. Her room mate did offer to check with condo management to see if she could take over the lease so my GF could move out, but that was over 10 days ago without any follow through. Bottom line is that she is digging in and isn't going to move out. Any suggestions on how to get a roommate to leave without resorting to something illegal or harmful? Additional Details Thank you all for the advice. If she doesn't move or has legal standing to stay i'm going to haunt that condo during the day while my GF is at work and her roommate is at home. The roommate doesn't work because she lives off a trust fund. My idea is to hack a universal remote and add a random timer so that the TV automatically goes to the 700 club channel. This circuit would be hidden in a candle. I'm going to put electronic crickets in hidden places. These are also timed randomly and chirp very briefly and can't be found. I'm going to rig the doorbell to ring randomly. And last but not least, I'm going to transmit the right code to set off her car alarm. Again disguised. Anyone have anymore? |

I'm not completely sure about what rights the roommate has. She isn't on the lease, so do you even need to evict her? Maybe you can just tell her to leave and if she refuses call the cops, but I'm not sure. I'd look in your phone book for something like "Landlord-Tenant affairs", or something like that. There will be some group in your local or county government that deals with stuff like that. Just call them and ask them what you need to do. If she is paying rent you may be forced to go the eviction route, but its worth calling them for more info. |

Tell your girlfriend to be super nice for a week or so.
Then in casual conversation, have your girlfriend tell your roommate that she wants a threesome with you and the two girls.
She'll move out in no time.
HA HA just kidding.
Also, be honest. Are you living there? Are you there 24/7? I know often when one has a significant other, they practially live there rent free and its annoying as hell.
But could she be feeling taken advantage of? Possibly. I know several people whose significant other was always watching the television, eating the food and being there 24/7, and it causes great stress.
Remember, you aren't on the lease and maybe this is the roommates way of exerting some control over the situation. |

She has all the legal rights of a tenant. Just give her thirty days notice and then file eviction. (Big Deal Maker has the right idea).
But I can't resist... If you want to make her life miserable I guess you can go that route. You could move in and walk around in your underwear all day, belching and farting. Watch really obscene porno movies non-stop with running commentary. You could follow her around turning off the TV, radio, oven, spraying air freshener whereever she is... Take the door off the refrigerator. Pack all her stuff from the kitchen, bathroom and living room in boxes "for her convenience." Cook cabbage day and night. Pick a song, any song, and sing it non-stop. |

Yes i have one thing for you.. Do not do those things you have mentioned.
Real easy. If both your GF and the roommate have signed a 1 year lease. They both are responsible for the rent. If your GF is not happy and her roommate wishes to stay then have your GF have a new lease made up by the manager to have herself removed and your roommate to be the only one on the lease. If her current room mate is NOT on the rental agreement. Then all your GF needs to do is hand her a 30 day notice to move. End of story. Best of luck |

Talk to the landlord and see if he has another place that he can rent your GF, and carry over the lease, and in that way, that girl will Have to move out. If he doesn't have another place to rent, ask him if he will terminate the lease on account of extreme hardship, both will have to move out, then have your gf move back in. It's worth a try. "There's more than one way to skin a cat." (Not figuratively.) Try it. |

If you want to circumvent the system, why not offer the woman a refund on her last month's rent if she agrees to be out by a certain date? Maybe she will agree to a financial incentive. |

Easy... Tell your GF to get serious... Tell her to tell her room mate to just get out!!! Talk to the manager and just say... Listin, my roommate is a jerk and I need her to leave cuz she is messy, always moody and just plain nasty... if all goes well then t5he manager will probly have a talk wit the roommate and the roommate will start freaking out and then the manager will know what your GF is talking about... If this works, send me a message!!! L8r... |

tell her she has 48 hrs to move out, or she's calling the cops. tell her to go to the condo management herself, and remove the roommate's name from the lease, so that she has no legal right to be there. then just kick her out. |
