Before you buy -- get a survey from a survey company -- might cost $200 and then you will know cause they post steaks on the coners of the property. Or go to the clerks of court and they can provide you a piece of paper about the property. Clerk of courts does not pound steaks... |

Have a Surveyor come out and mark the property lines. My next door neighbor did this and found out his neighbor on the other side is 6 in over on his property. So what does he do? He puts in a fence 6 in over on my property line to make up the difference.
By the way, that is illegal to do and if I wanted to be a bad neighbor I would be in my rights to have him tear down the part of the fence. I haven't put a fence in yet, but when I do I will kindly ask him for the 6 in back. Doesn't seem like a lot but its the principle. |

Ask the owner if he has the survey. You say buyer? Aren't you the buyer? Look at the survey from when the owner bought the property. Insist on a new survey for your purchase. |

Go to the town hall and get a site plan for the house .It has the property line listed as so many feet from each edge of the house. |

Sometimes you just need a metal detector. A lot of surveyors used to bury a long piece of steel rebar at the property lines so they would be easy to find in property line disputes. |

Do you mean the party walls and boundaries? HMLand registry will be able to give you this information (if you are in the uk) or the deeds to the property will have the information. |
