How can you find the selling price of a house that sold while remaining confidential?
A friends ex sold a second house and they wanted to know what it was sold for as this is needed for a court matter.

county records dept. go to zillow.com

It is public record. Go to the county courthouse the property was sold in and look it up. Her lawyer should know this. She also has the right to subpoena the financial documents if the sale of the home involves her financially in anyway.

There are several ways to find out the selling price of a property, however, sometimes the actual sales price shown is not the real sale price. I agree with searching your county's property records' site, or going directly to the county offices....Just remember that a private note may have been executed as well but not necessarily recorded. Unfortunately, some folks are sometimes dishonest, for varied reasons, especially in messy divorce cases.....Best to your friend.

Call the agent and ask. It is public information.

I agree with the assessor site. Other sites like zillow are meant for valuations, not selling prices.

It is a matter of public record.

Go to the county clerk or reigisters office and pull the new deed. It will have the purchase amount on it.

Chrissy C
it should be public record. property taxes have to be assesed for any property sale and some counties have property tax websites where you can look all sales up by address, owner name or parcel number. otherwise you need to contact the local property tax assessors office for your county to find out.

Kitty
If this info is needed for court I would highly suggest getting a different lawyer if the so called lawyer didnt know the answer to this !! Perhaps graduated at the bottom of his/her class ?

...and like the others have said...it is all public record ! Good Luck : )

Find the web site for your county assessors and do a property search by inputting the address. If that does not work research the tax site or input the parcel number.
