How do 2 people buy a home together?
For reasons I won't go into, we can't get married. We will stay together and wish to buy a home together. What are the steps we need to take to do so? Do we each get our own preapproval or do we fill out a preapproval form together?

You can do it together, you only need one. Just a word of advice, list the person with the better credit rating first, it will better your chances. You'll need to find a realtor and a lender. You'll need a lender letter right away in order to present any kind of contract on a house.
This is short and sweet, there are a lot more details. And I'm not going to lie, its a bit of a headache.

Hoping for a miricle! =)

well, i would assume one app and than list your name down and ss# and his name and ss# and if that doesnt work ONLY one of you may beable to fill out the app and just one of you be the righful owner if you are not married

Dr. Deth
probably one app - just list both names and ss#'s

You will apply together as borrower and co-borrower. You'll both be on the mortgage and the deed/title for the property.

One of the best way is to have your credit score fore the year, and try to find your nearest FHA in your town.Find out how many homes they are takeing off the market and look at them.Next you maker a bid and wait for a answer.

Either way, just get both names on the deed, and its gravy.
If one of you has poor credit, the other party can apply for the mortgage, althought the ammount of house you can afford will be limited to the one person's income.

You dont need to be married just get the approval for a mortgage in both of your names.

you can each try getting individual financing and if the lender happens to want other or more income, and then try using your partners information as extra income, its called a joint account.
