Go to your county courthouse where deeds are recorded. It is public information, free if you are willing to take the time to look for it. If you are lucky, your county will have it's information on the internet. |

You should be able to go to the county site and look up the address and it should show how much the house originally sold for and the people who ever owned it. |

Hi, so long as you are in the US, most counties put this information on the internet for free. In google, yahoo, or your favorite search engine type "COUNTY NAME Tax Assessor." So if you were looking in colorado springs, colorado you would type "El Paso County tax assessor" into a search engine.
From there you might have to click around and they will probably allow you to reference the property by street or owners name. Most of them allow you to type even a little information if you don't know all the details.
Its pretty easy, and fun and once you know the names of the owners, where they live, and what they paid, you could potentially use that information in a lot of interesting ways. Good luck! |

If you are working with a realtor, they can access this information in just a few moments at the computer.
If not, your local tax office should have the entire title transfer and purchase price history. Some areas do not offer this by internet or phone, you have to show up in person and pay a small fee for the information. |

The most legitimate source of real estate value is www.zillow.com. Some neighborhoods are more accurate than others but it is a good place to start. The next best place is to go into the Property Appraiser's website for the county that the property is located in. Most sites are very accurate and provide quick answers to your question. |
