Should be a matter of public record. Check with the tax assessors office. If they don't have it, they should be able to tell you how to get this information. |

you could go to Housing Court and asks. You could go to the City's County Clerks offices, or you can google. |

You can go to the local Town Hall in which your property is located. Go to the Assessor's office; look up the property address. Take the information to the "Town Records" dept., they have either a database or books that shoe who the owner is. The process varies from town to town, so it's best to ask when you get there. However, you will DEFIANTLY be able to locate your landlord! |

Contact your county's property tax registrar. Usually, if you give them the address, they can tell you who the owner is. This information is constantly updated. If you are paying rent to a person (you know, first and last name), it's a good bet that is the actual landlord. If you are paying it to a management company ( like "AAA Property Management"), then it is going to a company first.
When you find out who the real owner is and you get an offer to purchase, ask to see identification. These things can be faked, so ask to see several.
Are you paying your utilities directly to the providers? If not, you could ask to see the bills that your landlord has paid. If the names and addresses are the same, then you can be reasonably certain that this is the actual owner of the property. |

Look under your city's property assessment page on the Internet
eg. Property Assessment in Chicago, you should (at least for me) come up with a link that will ask you to enter the address, and it will tell you the owner, if not call your local property assessors office, and they should tell you, it's public record. |

In the state where I live you can do a real estate property search online that gives you the owner's name, assessed value of the property, year it was purchased and for what amount, etc. All you need to know is the county it's in and the name of the street. |
