You may not be able to get a NICE apartment, but at least you can get one. Not all landlords run your credit. Instead of looking at an apartment complex, try an individual landlord (someone who may only have a few apartments to rent.) Also, if you know someone who has great credit and they have credit cards that have high limits, low balances and PERFECT payment history, ask them if they wouldnt mind adding you as an authorized user for their account. You wont have access to their card or their account, but their stellar history becomes yours. If you can find 3 or so accounts, your credit score could jump nearly 100 points. Why is your score bad? Do you have a history of being late with payments? Make a promise to yourself to NEVER be late on a payment again. Dont buy ANYTHING besides food if you think there is a possibility of being late on your rent payments. Your credit score is your lifeline and you need to build it and keep it good. You should also consider getting a copy of your credit report from all 3 major agencies (Experion, Equifax and TransUnion). Make SURE that everything listed on those reports is correct, and if it isnt, it costs nothing to dispute it. If your credit report shows an account with an incorrect balance (such as a credit card that you have paid off, but they are showing a $2000 balance), you need to dispute that with the agency AND to the company who you have the account with. A correction like that could mean an extra 20 points.
Everything I am telling you WORKS, but it wont work unless you do something about it. Start NOW by not missing any more payments...not even by one day. Best of luck to you |

9 times out of 10 all you have to do is make 3 times the rent and pay a higher deposit. Usually 2 months of rent. If you can afford that then usually they see you can pay your rent. Also it is not always about your credit it is mostly about rental history. If you need to build that up find a place that takes broken leases or whatever and live there 6 months, give 30 days notice when your 6 months are up and that will reflect good on rental history. |

rent from someone who doesn't check. most do not. come with money in hand for the first, last and security and they rarely ask anything. money talks BS credit reports walk. GL apartment seeker. |

Depends if it is a corporation or individually owned.
You could offer a higher security deposit for 1-2 years and then ask for some of it back. Or you could get a co signer.
If your finances are not in order tho- don't bother yet.
Get your credit repaired. |

You might explore having a roommate who is in a lease and looking for someone to pay half the rent in exchange for your own room and bathroom. There are many people who look for good roommates but be very selective and careful. |
