jeminiwitch | How do you deal with rude realtors? They call to schedule appt and dont show up. We are afraid to make waves.? |
We have had realtors who refuse to give us a business card, or shake hands. They dont like being questioned about what they are doing, like is it a preview or showing. They call for an appointment and are up to 2 hours late or no shows. We want to sell but are having a hard time dealing with their manners. |

I'm a Realtor and have had people not show up to appointments. So it works both ways. There are lots of Realtors out there, which makes it hard to find the really good ones.
I network with a lot of GREAT Realtors across the country, whom I have qualified in person. If you are looking for a very good Realtor I would put my name to, go to http://www.ReferredPro.com and I'll refer you!
Also, here's my response to the guy who says that selling on your own is better than using a Realtor:
* According to Thomas M. Stevens, President of the National Association of Realtors for 2006, "Finally, the plain fact is that hiring a professional pays off. The typical home represented by a professional last year sold for 16 percent more than those sold without a professional’s help. That profit more than pays for the agent’s commission. Millions of homeowners know it, and that’s why they will continue to call on experienced real estate professionals."
Chances are that your home will be represented much more professionaly by a Realtor, not to mention it will save you a lot of headaches.

You have got to be kidding me! Two hours late for a listing appointment?! I'm there two hours early! Kick them to the curb! This is unbelievable! A listing is like having $$'s in the bank (future cash flow)! You'll find someone. Ask family members, friends to refer you.
Look at it this way. At least they showed their true colors before you gave them the listing. Can you imagine them being two hours late on your property showings? Consider yourself blessed.
On behalf of all of us hardworking Realtors, I would like to apologize!
TO PHILBERTPHEINSTEIN: It's strange that you would say that considering that your state is an escrow state in which Realtors basically do transactions as an attorney would. I don't know about the Realtors you've dealt with, but I take care of my clients. I would have considered giving you a jingle, but apparently you don't care for "older gals" who are Realtors.
Unless you want to deal with strangers calling and coming by your home anytime in the day and night, as well as limited marketing strategies, I would not advise FSBO (For Sale by Owner)....I have converted many FSBO's and successfully sold their property. There's only so much that a sign and word of mouth will do. A Realtor has a wider marketing search such as MLS, loopnet, a pool of investors, etc. So don't give up on us. There are a lot of full-time Realtors out there who will do whatever it takes to market and sale your home. |

There are no waves to be made. Just terminate them. And always sign with a very short contract period. Remember, they work for you and your their customer. |

Realtors are highly over rated and their prices are about 10 times what they should be. You can easily sell yourself and have a lot more flexibility making deals. Realtors want a quick sale, so they can get their money fast and run. FSBO is a better deal for you and the buyer. Talk to some title companies. |

Fire the greedy buzzard if you have one hired. Sell the property yourself and get a real estate attorney on a flat fee (if possible) to do the paperwork and closing. Why give these realtors 5-6% of YOUR sale proceeds? Sure they'll smile and say all the things you want to hear as a seller (when they want the business)but in reality most realtors are about as trustworthy as a used car salesman. Either way good luck to you. |

The majority of realtors are part time workers working a full time job somewhere else. They don't have time to be anything. |

Go to the real estate board. There are rules that real estate agents must follow. And if they are rude, then find someone else. There are plenty of agents who are dying for the work and who will treat you better. What do you mean you are afraid to make waves??? You are the CLIENT. They should be the ones afraid of offending YOU. After all, they're going to get a chunk of money out of the sale. Kick the rude ones to the curb. |

It happened.
But mostly it is the sub-agents who don't really care because that is not their listing.
I have an average of 30 to 40 listings most of the times and almost everyday I got blame from Sellers about this kind of thing.
Sometimes when I really mad, just call other agents and yell at them, nothing really effective to stop those "rude" agents |

A realtor is like any other person who offers a service - if you get bad service you dump them. You are definitely NOT obligated to stick with any realtor who does not act professionally. And you can also report them to their bosses or the local board. In California for example it is CAR - California Association of Realtors. If you need a realtor in CA let us know - we know several good ones who you can trust. 951 302 6586. |

A good real estate agent will arrive on time and listen to your concerns and answer all questions. A good agent has enough experence and knowledge to answer any hard question you put to them. Call a real estate appraiser. Ask him to do a study and see who sells the most in your area and let uyou know who the top three agents are and you contact them and listen to them. |
