I feel pretty darn good. Great in fact. I worked very hard so my wife could stay home and raise our kids and we could have nice houses for them. They were a long way from mansions, but they were warm, dry and safe.
Being retired, I take very good acre of our home. I owe very little on it now and am able to make the payments without worry. I care less about the stock market, investments, housing values, etc. We are safe in a nice area, comfortable and quite happy in our own home. If I can make the payments and pay the taxes, we will always have a place to live or for any family that needs a place to stay. It was well worth all the effort.

Well I've worked hard to afford my little condo and I didn't buy property which I couldn't afford which has kept me from being able to move into something bigger.

is pregnant!
I have busted my but working and paying my own way through college to get my career where it is. My husband is the same way. We just purchased our first house and I’m 28. People have control of their own life and their own decisions. Those who say they cant afford to go to college is a line of bull. If they can’t afford it they can get financial aid. There is help for those who need it. It’s the choices in life that people make that determine where they go in life. If people can’t afford to buy a house that is not my problem. They need to reanalyze their situation and make the changes to get them in a position to be able to get a house. I have busted my but to get my house so no, I do not feel bad for what I have that others don’t.

In the past few years most people could afford to buy a home. Now with this mess we are in now, a whole bunch of people will be unable to get a loan even if their credit is really good. How do I feel. I have paid my dues and my house is small and paid for. I would be happy to tell people how to manage their money so that they could afford a home but most would not listed

I don't understand the question. Do I need to feel sorry for you that I've worked hard, spent less then I earn, saved and purchased my own home.

I guess the answer is, I feel already.

I feel just fine.
I also own 186 units that I rent out.
I have earned it all, no give me.
When I got home from my 3rd tour in Nam, I had a plan.
My son owns a $500,000 home and he is just fine also, thank-you.
I feel great!

there was a time I could not afford a home. I think back over the years and all the hard work and sacrifice and I am happy I got my little place.

and like someone said MAYBE some don't want the maintenance, upkeep and tie down feeling of owning.

For those that WANT a home and can't afford it, I was where you WERE and I fought and worked hard and saved and fixed things myself, and had a home and no furniture or pretty curtains a long time..

It can work out... work hard. :)
And if for some reason you just cannot? be happy where you are planted.

No one person in this life gets EVERYTHING they want we are so fortunate in this country to get shelter.

How do YOU feel having a date compared to people who can't get one?
How do YOU feel being able to even go on a date when many people can't afford to?

Yeah, if you're truly interested in how people feel in being able to afford a home then you should ask it in a non-threatening way because right now it just seems like you're accusing them and trying to make them feel guilty.
