We are currently buying a smaller trailer compared to our 3 floor House. We cant afford to keep paying for this house in the summer time. We were wondering what the consiquences were on foreclosure? We really need an Honest answer beucase it may affect where we live and if we will have a criminal record or not. Also, my mom has a credit score of 720 and weve already been approved. Nothing 'life and death' about a foreclosure. You couldn't afford the payments so the bank took the house back. Happens all the time. Your credit score goes down. From 720 to 600 or less. You will not get approved to buy a new GM car on their current Zero % interest rate for qualified buyers. |

No criminal record unless your parents committed fraud somewhere along the line, but foreclosure is not a crime.
Her credit will drop 260 points and she will not be able to buy property for 7-10 years. Her credit is not likely to ever get to 720 again. |

If you lose the house to foreclosure, your credit is ruined. It is not a criminal offense, but it ruins your loanworthiness for many years and is to be avoided if at all possible.
I believe the thing to do is
#1 find any and every way to make the payments. This includes extra jobs, taking in renters, selling stuff, cutting down on expenses in the extreme. Advertise on craigslist for all the things you need to do in this regard, but try to make it work.
(A story here. Years ago, my marriage broke up, and I was stuck with a large house, mortgage payment, etc., no money help from my husband, etc. So I found not one, not two, but three other girls to come in and share with me. I did that for about three years until I got back on my feet. It was not fun, but it was necessary, and I survived it. In fact, I found strength I didn't know I had.)
#2 If the first solution is not possible, contact the mortgage holder right away. Do not just walk away, but rather try to work something out. This week, Congress passed a relief bill, and there may be some help for you, too, so explore this.
#3 Know this is not the end of the world. Times are very tough, but you will survive. We all will, even though it will be tough. God bless. |

Thomas, if you can't afford the house, sell it now before it gets foreclosed on. Visit www.crs.com to find a broker that can also help you with a short sale which means you owe more than it will sell for since they may be able to help you out. |

If you allow the house to be foreclosed your mother's credit will drop a couple hundred points and stay there for at least 5 years. It won't affect your trailer purchase unless the foreclosure goes through before you finish the purchase of the trailer. |

Um, they take your house and then you still have to pay on the difference between...what the house sold for or something, it pretty much sucks. |

Call the mortgage lender and tell them that you can't afford the home anymore. Chances are the lender will not want the home back, since they will loose a lot of money. They will work with you, or refer you to someone who can help. Try to avoid the forclosure at all costs. If your mom is involved, forclosure will pretty much ruin her credit score as well as your own. Good luck! |
