How do you get a eviction removed off your rental history?

Rex
Landlords and employers deserve to be warned that you are a dead beat. It is a legal document and can not be removed.

It may expire after 10 years, landlords can renew after 10 years, but are not required to.

SmartA$$
Your rental history is a history report on you. It wouldn't really be historically accurate if it didn't report things that actually happened.

The bottom line is you can't just have it removed unless you file a lawsuit and get a court order that the eviction was invalid.

You don't. An eviction is a public court record, and those are the records which credit bureaus use to obtain such data. Your only chance (and a very slim one) is to take legal action to have the eviction action reversed. That would take proving that the eviction was improper in the first place.

You will just have to wait until the passage of time removes this eviction from your record.

glenn
Live long enough while paying your rent.

It becomes less important each year.

schwildcat1977
You don't. It is not possible. It stays there for a reason.

chatsplas
After 10 years, it's gone.

Natural consequence of your actions and inactions. Having a good more recent rental track record can help you overcome it.

ranger_co_1_75
You can't, it is there for life.

get in a time machine, go back in time and DON'T GET EVICTED!

Dances with Aardvarks
An eviction is a matter of public record. All judgments remain on your credit record for up to 10 years -- not for life as some allege -- just like bankruptcies. The passage of time will lessen its impact, but there's no way to remove it earlier unless the judgment is reversed or otherwise thrown out by the courts.

I can only be Rosie
Rex is extremely rude. Bad things happen to good people. Anyway, most landlords will ask for 5 years of rental history for application and reference purposes. However, they will still probably see the eviction on your credit report.

I love that I am a landlord and I got so many thumbs down, like I don't know how the system works. I love when I'm surrounded by winners!
