Its very hard at the moment.
I know people that have had their house on the market for over 6 months, and only a couple of viewings.
The reason is lack of credit. Banks are not giving many people mortgages like they did in the past. They won't take the risk on people who they don't think will be able to afford to make the repayments in the future (like first time buyers).
Its basically all down to the current economic climate (recession), but it will get better again!
It is still possible to sell. However, a house is likely to have decreased in value over the last 12 months or so. |

I have lived in my house for 11 Years and am trying to sell my house, this is the second year. We are having a very hard time selling our house. It depends on the market where you live and what your asking price is. Where are you planning on moving? What is your asking price? |

Not hard at all if you sell it for the same price you bought it for 20 years ago!
I say that half jokingly. Prices right now are at around 2003/2004 levels. So as long as you haven't refinanced your house since buying it 20 years ago, or have a bunch of home improvement debt, then you should be able to sell it with healthy appreciation. Just be reasonable in your asking price. And if you're house isn't modern, expect to have to be even more reasonable with the price.
The people really hurting are those who bought their homes after 2003.. |

the real answer is it can be easy to sell or hard or somewhere in between depending ob various factors .
eg state of the market ( poor at moment) the type of property on offer. its condition .location, amenities and transport nearby and so on.
the major factor is of course price for if its seen to be very good value or cheap it will attract offers. if going for silly money will get sold quickly and so on. even the presentation inside and out such as decoration has a big impact. noisy neighbours, pub next door , school etc so not easy to give a set rule. |

bleeding hard! I have been up for sale nearly a year, and I had to come down £10,000, my home is lovely really;its all new stuff as I gutted the whole property when I moved in, new windows, wiring, bathroom suite, kitchen,French doors leading into a garden, brick garage, extended hall. loads of stuff, but because of the credit crunch every one is scared. |

Well it depends on the area the house is in for starters as well as the condition of the house. Also it depends a lot on the price. Right now it's a buyers market so if you are will to sell at a lower price than the house is worth than you shouldn't have to much of a problem getting offers, BUT just becuase you get offers those who are trying to buy the home from you may have trouble getting financing etc |
