I work for a real estate company in CA...if you are late on your rent your landlord can give you a 3 day notice....Its the 10th of July and my company has already sent out 3 day notices to pay rent or move!! But for any other reason they usually give 30-60 day notices to move. But once you're late on your rent they can do a 3 day notice because you have breached your contract!!

Suspeded 4 no good reason
Customarily 30 days

If you signed a lease it will say how much time you got. If you are late on the rent, you can be out on the sidewalk as fast as the sheriff can haul your a## out the door.
Not late? Paid a month in advance as the usual practice? Then you got till the date the next payment is due.
But the good news about this is that I am only saying what would happen if you have no lease to begin with.

In most states--30 days

raptim_usa
It depends on what state you live. I would say generally 30 days notice.

princess_beauty
i would say 30 days and if not less.

Trouble
It depends of your lease, your state's landlord tenant laws and the exact situaton.

Non-payment/breach of lease - as little as 3 days.

Termination of a month to month - as little as 14 days.

Termination of a fixed term - as little as 30 days.

Sondra
Usually you have to be 30 days late on rent, and then you have 30 days to move out.

Depending on your lease and the state you're in, it could be less, but not more.
