How long does it take for a landlord to evict you ?

Depends on the state. As little as 20, as much as 45 days.

It took my brother 90 days to evict someone that was renting off of him.

It really depends on where you are and if the eviction is for non-payment or for cause.

Also, some states require notice before a non-payment action is commenced, other states don't.

Non-payments are generally much faster than other possession actions.

In most states a landlord must give a 30 day notice to quit at a minimum. The 30 days begins after the anniversary of the last day of next rental period. If you get a notice the last day of the month and pay rent on the 1st, you have 30 days from the 1st. If you have already paid this months rent, it goes into effect the next month.
This is a general rule. Check your local town/city office for your local or states rules. They will have it or be able to tell you who knows. Have your rental agreement with you.

The exception is if you pay by the week. Then in some cases you only get a weeks notice (one rental period.) It is rare that it is allowed.

It can happen rather quickly depending on the ability of the landlord. 1st a 3 day notice to vacate must be served allowing you to pay up then an eviction notice should be served with an eviction court date. you can not be evicted in most states w/out your day in court. if evicted the judge will set the day you must be out. if you miss court a notice of lock out may be served then you are history. it is generally a 30 day process.

Well that depends on where you are, generally they can give you a 30 day notice to vacate. If you are being evicted you can fight tenet eviction talk to an attorney they can set you up with the proper forms, or call your local court house and they nay be able to help.

I live in Illinois and the law here is one month after rent has not been paid. But of course he has to file a petition to evict you that could take 30 days and then another 30 days for the eviction.I would call my local court hose or circuit clerk and ask them because the laws differ from state to state. Good Luck!!!!

greid13
it depends on the state laws, but typically it takes approx 30 days.

anon in idaho
It depends on where you live, what laws if there are for renters and landlords. Typically it's 30 days before they can evict you.

It really all depends upon your state laws; In indiana a renter must be given notice of no less than 30 days; i would assume that other states would have similiar legislation. hope this helps
