well i did live in a apartment and was charged a deposite, and i felt it was wrong, because my dog stayed out side and when it rained she stayed on the porch, didn't at all come onside. and when i gave my notice to her i was moving she said i wouldn't get my pet deposit back. so i waited till she came to check the apartment and she said i still smell the dog in here. well i told her she was never inside. and that women said because you had a dog you don't get it back. i told her that was nothing but stealing from us. and talked with a law afical and they couldn't do anything about it. so the next time i want tell them and if they see it i'll say i don't no who dropped it of and i tied it outside till i fine it a home, so it don't get killed. at lease i'll try it ! ! |

My friend has a small chiuawa (sp?) dog and his landlord has no clue. he makes sure it doesnt leave a mess, and no he did not pay the deposit. I think its ok for small pets but I'd pay for the deposit on larger pets like a lab or german shepard size dog. |

i had one last year and the landlord found out, made us get rid of the dog and we had to pay to have all of the carpets cleaned. so just keep that freaking thing quiet! |

Depends on the pet.. like my daughter lives with 2 birds, 5 rats, a tank of goldfish and a lop earred rabbit. These are all considered caged animals and they don't need a deposit.
Cats and dogs can wreck carpets and/or curtains that is why they make you pay the deposit on them. |
